Pros
1
Highly knowledgeable and experienced lawyer who goes above and beyond for clients
“He is extremely knowledgeable. He has a no-nonsense approach, which is quite refreshing. I would highly recommend Marty Mullaney for his experience, dedication, hard work, and professionalism.”
2
Dedicated and responsive lawyer who cares about his clients
“He has been my attorney for almost as long. In most cases, needing an attorney can be very stressful, and downright scary. I always felt safe. He is extremely knowledgeable.”
3
Successful in achieving positive outcomes for clients, including custody and asset disputes
“He and my ex never stood a chance against Marty. Although my divorce was protracted (because of the other side), I ended up with a majority of the assets, full custody (I am the father) and a generous monthly child support payment.”
4
Respected and well-known in the legal community
“There is no better attorney to represent you in Pennsylvania. Thank you Marty for the dedication, consideration and success in handling my case.”
5
Compassionate and personable lawyer who makes clients feel at ease
“Beyond his professional status, he is genuinely compassionate and caring. He made sure I understood the legal process as we moved forward, alleviating my worst fears and keeping me calm.”
Cons
1
Some clients felt the lawyer did not fully deliver on promises or follow through on all aspects of their cases
“Marty took our retainer and told us the divorce would be done in 6 months. He had me sign the divorce decree but told me not to date it. The opposing counsel continues to ask for more and more information, but when i ask Marty for the same information regrading my soon to be ex, he has nothing.”
2
A few clients had negative experiences where the lawyer did not achieve the desired outcome or help their case
“He's isn't even worth 1 star. He is the worst lawyer I ever hired. He didn't even help my son in his case. All Marty did was take our money and ran with it. He knew we weren't experienced and he took our money and left my son with a felony.”

Marty was the best lawyer for me. My first experience needing a lawyer and he made me feel very much at ease from his first message. His team was also very helpful and thankfully the outcome was exactly as Marty predicted it would be. He went above and beyond what he had to do as my lawyer to get the outcome we all wanted.

Marty was referred to me by the kind of friend ...that you would trust your wife and kids to..... So I met Marty & I hired him. I was guilty as sin. Marty (and his team) negotiated the best deal possible for me. I think a public defender could probably have done the same thing. But, I gotta tell ya. folks, THEIR IS A DIFFERENCE. The advice and direction he gave me after my case got settled was priceless. So if you want an attorney with no scruples that nobody in the courthouse respects who will pull out every stop to get your guilty ass out a jail......move on. Let your fingers do the walking. If you want to hire a respected attorney who has been around the block and can negotiate the best deal for everyone involved, hire Saul Goodman. Just kidding. Martin p Mullaney gets my vote. Who's your next Guvnah?

The best around! He has helped me in many ways and always went above and beyond the call of duty. I have recommended him to many other friends and family for any situation where a attorney is needed. You could not ask for anymore in an attorney. He is one of the few who genuinely cares for his clients. I highly recommend him for all and any services.

If you are dealing with a family matter, I highly recommend working with Tina Corr. Pricing: Tina Corr was fair and consistent with pricing. Her contract was straightforward and easy to read. Prices are reasonable and billing was explicitly spelled out ahead of time so no surprises. Personality: Tina Corr was wonderful to talk to. She gave me the truth even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear. She read everything I sent (and I mean read, not just received) and she responded mindfully to all of my concerns. Efficiency: Tina Corr was responsive (almost always within 24 hours via phone or email!) and efficient with paperwork. Everything was filed correctly on time if not early. I never felt like my lawyer left me hanging. Flexibility: Tina Corr was able to respond specifically to the unique needs and requests I had for my case. I think family cases can be nuanced and mine was no different. Tina Corr was able curate the work on her end to suit my specific circumstance. I attribute this to the fact that she's a good listener and perceptive; qualities that can be difficult to find in a lawyer.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Skippack, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
