My son was falsely accused of assault and Andy Shubin was recommended by the fraternity. He defended my son with the passion that he would a close friend. He kept us informed about every aspect of the case and explained our options. We chose not to plead to fabricated charges and he won a full acquittal with his questioning and passionate closing. He saved my son’s future and we will always be grateful! BTW...his office staff is terrific also!

Don’t think twice about putting your faith and trust in Attorney Andrew Shubin! Finding myself the target of manufactured charges of harassment and simple assault, I was both terrified and devastated at how quickly my life was coming unraveled. The consequences of someone filing false charges, fabrication of elaborate evidence and needing to defend myself against accusers with perceived community and professional clout, became overwhelming. Mr. Shubin came highly recommended through a friend. Throughout my initial consultation; my concerns, questions and anxiety were instantly put to rest. Genuine care, expert resources ( from private detective to poly graph testing ) and incredible proficiency in every aspect; hands down the BEST defense lawyer there is! Do not mistake his kindness and compassion. I personally witnessed his humble demeanor transform into a relentless, fierce ally for truth and justice in the courtroom. Mr. Shubin exposed my accusers, their “ evidence” & witnesses, putting them on public display as absolute perjury. Amazing to witness. Amazing to win. Amazing to reclaim my life back. Priceless!

Andy really helped me out of a jam. It was a long 4 year process but he always kept in contact and up to date. He is a great lawyer he has the experience to tell you how a case might go and what your actually looking at. I was charged with 7 different felonies. Andy by somehow got that reduced to 3 felonies with no jail time. People always tell me that I must have had one the best lawyers. It is very true!! I highly recommend Andy he will not let you down! He will always look out for your best interest and the best deal. Hire Andy as your lawyer .. I never write reviews but I honestly had to he was that awesome.

My son got himself in some trouble while attending Penn State. Andrew gave my son exceptional personal attention and helped him resolve the matter. His service is exceptional and his fees are fair. He kept mom and dad informed every step of the way. I high recommend Andrew Shubin.

Big promises .. ZERO delivery..and Mr. Shubin did not know who we were in the court room until the judge called my child's name. Mr. Shubin was disorganized and shuffling through paperwork and seemed ill prepared. And, he was late. Additionally, there were 50 other students in the courtroom and only a handful had private attorney representation. Every case was handled by the courts exactly the same... It would NOT have made a difference if my child had a private attorney or not. DO NOT USE Mr. Shubin USE A PUBLIC DEFENDER IF IT IS YOUR CHILD'S FIRST OFFENSE AT PENN STATE

I came to Barbara with a custody matter that needed handled quickly. She was eager to help and listen to my specific situation. She came up with an action plan that I was happy with and stayed on top of communication when I had concerns/questions. Barbara was very nice to work with and knows what she's doing. I would (and will) highly recommend her to others that are seeking legal help.

A lifesaver may seem to be a strong word, but it is not when you are facing a felony record for life any potential jailtime. When facing a serious case which could have resulted in a felony record, out of talking to at least 10 lawyers, Mr. Masorti stood out the most. His intelligence, grace, and dedication will protect you all the time at any time. He will do work without ever giving you tension, with you not even realizing the work he is putting into the case. Out of multiple charges that would have made me a felon, Mr. Masorti was able to get everything downgraded to one single misdemeanor charge, that after one year of the ARD program (pre-trial invertion, probation) that only required a court check in online once a month, would get expunged. He stands out in my mind as THE most impressive lawyer I have ever met. You cannot go wrong and will never question your decision in choosing Mr. Masorti.

Masorti Law Group is a firm that I would recommend to anyone looking for legal advice. Philip is an extremely approachable, friendly, and professional lawyer who will look out for you like you're family. I got in trouble for a felony level crime while on ARD and Philip managed to get me an extended ARD sentence instead of jail/prison time. He is compassionate and extremely driven to help his clients, and will also keep you informed and updated every step of the way. I can not advocate enough for the legal services of Masorti Law Group.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of State College, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
