Totally disrespectful. Doesn’t do anything but forward emails. Only in it for the money. Speaks to you like your not even his client. Tries to tell you your crazy and that you need medication and to find a new attorney if you don’t like the way he does thing. Pretty easy to say when you get a non-refundable retainer LOL. Your a joke Barry!

I paid him a large amount of money just to have him side with my ex and tell me I'm a disgrace and failure as a parent. He didn't fight for anything I requested he did what he wanted and still had the nerve to send me a bill saying I still owed him a large amount of money. He's definitely just a crook

I have retained Barry for divorce, custody and everything else thrown at me. His office is professional, approachable and friendly, they are very consistent with returning calls/emails. Attorney Cohen will fight for you as well as give you reality and jumps head in first, which is exactly what I need. I am very happy with retaining him to represent me in all matters that I have and currently am facing. I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for an attorney who fights and does the right thing.

Barry seemed fine until our day of custody court. He asked about our twins which we don't have. He said he forgot to inform me of a major decision I needed to make right before stepping foot into court. When I tried to inquire what the repercussions of the decision could be, he yelled at me and told me to stop being so dramatic. The decision cost me greatly for years after.

From the first time we met I found Attorney Cohen to be professional, knowledgeable and thorough wile handling my divorce. In addition to handling the matter on hand, he also gave me good advise and direction on other issues as well. Communication, regarding meetings and time related issues were always done in a timely fashion. I would not hesitate to use Attorney Cohen for any legal questions. If not in his field I'm sure he would and could steer me in the right direction. Again highly recommended.

If you need a lawyer for an automobile accident, personal injury, or other legal issue, please contact Michael Foley. He will not only fight for you until you win, but he will also make you feel like a family member. He is determined, knowledgeable, dedicated, and above all, compassionate. He goes above and beyond protocol to communicate with you every step of the journey. Another impressive trait about Mr. Foley is how amazingly well he works with young people. My son was 17 when he met in his tragic auto accident; Mr. Foley has not just been his attorney for the past four years, but also a mentor that consistently helps my son deal with his trauma.

June 24, 2020 My husband and I met and hired Michael Foley on the spot 30 years ago. He is totally knowledgeable, professional, dedicated to winning your case, and very easy to talk with. He is awesome in the courtroom, very impressive! He cares about family and will go above and beyond for you. If you have a question he doesn't know the answer to, and actually that would be extremely rare, he'd find the answer quickly for you. Call him - if he's not in, he'll return your call ASAP. He'll make himself available for whenever you need him. Trust me, you cannot go wrong with Michael Foley. I've been a gratified client for 30 years!

Attorney Walters was courteous and attentive to my legal needs. She knew exactly what needed to get done. She also didn't break the bank in terms of hourly rate or flat fee, I felt like I was really getting my money's worth and not being robbed. Highly recommended!

I found myself in a very tough economical situation and I felt lost with no where to go for help until I found Kim M. Diddio. I never thought I would ever have to file for bankruptcy but the struggle was real and this was my only way out. As soon as I went to see her, she made me feel like there was hope and she never gave up on me. She's a tough lawyer but she is also very kind and compassionate.......anyone that retains her will be just as blessed as I was to have her representing you. She was a blessing for me and she can be one for you as well. If you want the job done right give her a call.....you won't be disappointed.

Quite literally the best DUI lawyer in the state in my opinion. He’s very kind, and knowledgeable but even better he gives you the benefit of having your dui Defense on auto Pilot, you won’t have to stress every second about your case because while he’s handling it for you, he will also keep you up to date with everything going on and do whatever he can to get you to win your case. I spoke to a lot of lawyers and chose Brian over all of them simply because he’s good at what he does and he’s very impressionable.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
