I leave this review in the hopes of saving others from the harrowing ordeal I experienced with the law offices of MacElree Harvey, Ltd. My brother and I retained the services of this firm to settle our mother’s estate in 2020. The process dragged on for 2 years while we were passed from lawyer to lawyer. These lawyers were unprofessional, unknowledgeable, and disorganized. Their negligence prolonged the process, leveraging disagreements over the estate to their own financial gain, while assets depreciated, repeatedly demonstrating their inability to expeditiously settle the estate. Our fees with MacElree Harvey went from the initial quote of $7,500 to nearly $30,000. On three occasions I had to seek outside legal council for clarity that these lawyers could not provide and to move the process along. MacElree Harvey, Ltd., lost vehicle titles, a ring, and an entire folder of paperwork which they blamed on the switching of lawyers and employees within their firm though we still paid the price for their numerous mistakes. Beyond the financial expense and time wasted, I believe the stress of this process contributed to a decline in my health and well being. I have waited three months to write this review, taking the time to reflect and ensure I wasn’t leaving a rash or unfair account of this experience. The settling of an estate under normal circumstances can be an emotionally trying ordeal but this law firm’s incompetence made this process unbearable.

The absolute worst. Lazy, sloppy, uneducated and uninformed at $300/hour. Oh and what they don't know (which is basically everything), they will have conference calls with other attorneys at their firm without the client and charge exorbitant rates for both attorneys. Felix, before you take another land use case, I suggest you figure out the difference between a spruce and an oak tree. And what about that retention basin that you couldn't identify when you were standing in it? I don't think you've been outside much, it's pretty evident when you walk. You're a mess. Do not waste a dollar of your hard-earned money with this disgusting firm. Further, don't waste a second of your time even calling this firm (cesspool of sleaze).

I cannot say enough good things about Peter Kratsa. He is intuitive, professional, prompt and EXTREMELY good at what he does!

I had a very difficult divorce and custody battle. I stuck with Lance through the entire process and I'm so glad I did. Lance took the time to fully understand my case and worked hard to navigate complex issues. He has excellent knowledge of the law and his recommendations were spot on. When we had to go to court Lance clearly explained the strategy and reasoning behind it and we always walked away with a positive outcome. I highly respect Lance's ability as a lawyer and found his advice to be very valuable. Going through divorce and custody issues is an extremely emotional process and I found Lance to be very level-headed and even throughout the process. Lance guided me in the right direction during times when I wanted to go a more adversarial route, which in the end produced a better outcome for less money. I highly recommend Lance as a divorce attorney, he is worth every penny.

Lawyer Felix helped me resolve a bad debt in a courteous, effective, and efficient manner. At all times he treated me with respect and framed the conversation from my perspective helping me save thousands of dollars [not to mention time and headaches]. Lance stood by me in what turned out to be a somewhat ‘difficult’ and long divorce, my ex being a lawyer himself was challenging but Lance’s resilience, patience and skill in the law ultimately prevailed. His professional and personal manner with his attention to detail kept me informed and confident along the way. Lance is an outstanding attorney that represented me in a difficult divorce and custody case. Lance from the beginning emphasized doing what was right, not expedient, and in hindsight I am so grateful that I listened to him. This fundamentally changed - or broadened - of the difference between a good family law advocate, and a not so good one. Lance is one of the best.

I hired Lance to be my attorney for my divorce and child custody. My case itself was not too complex because I was only married for a few years however my ex-wife made it difficult and continues to do so. He continues to provide recommendations that are reasonable, practical, long term and more importantly moral. He is calm, communicates clearly, and assertive in difficult situations. He is very responsive and easily accessible which helped tremendously in certain emergencies. He is knowledgeable and was able to quickly come up with resolutions when drafting child custody and property settlement agreement as well as helped me make informed decisions at various points in time during this process. Overall, he did a great job in all aspects and would hire him again if I had to do this all over.

No Stars. But to post, Google makes me put at least one My siblings and I are considering a malpractice lawsuit against MacElree for their gross incompetence. MacElree.Was.Just.That.Bad! My siblings, parent, and I contracted with MacElree to establish a trust, and the associates to me seemed bored and disinterested with their work, and as a result, they made many careless, sloppy, and wholly avoidable mistakes, such as: · Got parent's name very wrong on the actual trust document and parent's date of death wrong, and then telling us, when we brought it to their attention, that it did not matter, really, and that if we wanted to, my siblings and I could fix it ourselves in six months! · MacElree advised we could not put real estate in the trust, then said, "Oh Wait! Yeah, you can!" · MacElree missed important deadlines - some with possible, significant tax consequences- and then attempted to lay blame with my siblings and me for the missed deadline. Unconscionable! This firm created a great deal of contention, confusion, and expense with their sloppy work. Additionally, associates were untruthful: When we asked to advance the trust alternate to the primary on the trust, MacElree said that since our parent had died, that the trust ended, and we could not make the change. The change request was due to the primary's significant stress and mental health issues. My siblings and I were in agreement, but MacElree was untruthful and denied us. So, the primary continued to serve and suffer. MacElree later recanted and said –“Oh wait! The trust does exist!”. We could have changed the primary. Unconscionable! At this point, we fired them, termed the trust, out of necessity. It was not the orderly, logical, careful process we wanted, but we had to get rid of MacElree. They are just that bad. Attempts to negotiate a return of fees, given the poor, sloppy performance, were unsuccessful. The managing partners were silent and provided no help. It appears to me there is no leadership or accountability up and down the reporting chart at this firm. My siblings and I are considering a malpractice lawsuit against them for their gross incompetence – MacElree was Just.That.Bad.
