I have worked with Robert Tourek for about 13 years, and he has taken care of all my legal tax issues ,and has resolved them.

My highest recommendations! As an independent technology consultant through two economic downturns and with a teenager who got cancer, we had some hard financial choices to make; and delaying paying the IRS was one of them (in order to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table.) But eventually they needed to be paid. Robert expertly helped us resolve our IRS lien and about SIX YEARS of back-tax mess, clearing up my misconceptions about OICs and helping set up and guide us through our repayment plan; then working with us *and* the IRS to make sure things were done right on both sides. We really appreciated Robert's tax law knowledge, but especially his accessibility and guidance and clear explanations. As well as taking care of our extra payments at the Federal bldg. specifically to make sure they got applied to the most beneficial tax years. We got through the plan and are now free and clear, and I honestly believe it would have been a lot longer, more stressful, and more costly to us without Robert. Even a year later, we still stay in touch.

My father and mother found themselves in trouble with the IRS. After years of trying to handle the situation themselves and using a not so trustworthy company that promised huge things, they found Robert Tourek. Mr. Tourek was able to calm the situation using his years of experience and contacts he has made. He worked out a plan and guided them through every step. Straight forward. No sugar coating or pie in the sky promises, but with concern and compassion to get the situation resolved. I would highly recommend Bob to anyone who is in a dilemma with the IRS to contact him ASAP. Do not try and do it on your own. -GS

My company had to deal with a payroll tax issue that stemmed from us not using a payroll service in our early days (big lesson learned there!). A lien was filed against our company, and I was in over my head trying to deal with the fallout of the problem. Robert Tourek came through in spades for us. He helped us understand the issues at hand, deal with the IRS, and come up with the best plan to get out of the mess we created. He was always available to take my calls and emails, and he made sure that we were always in the loop. I'd highly recommend him, and I'm grateful for the confidence he gave me to deal with such a foreboding and challenging time.

We had an extremely good experience working with Robert. He was quick, efficient and all business. I had multiple issues spanning multiple years including some small business contracting work. Robert presented my situation to the IRS and negotiated a resolution that exceeded my expectations, which is an understatement. Previously we had another reputable accounting group do absolutely nothing and in fact created additional issues, so I speak from experience. He did twice the work in half the time. Robert is helping us moving forward with our financial and tax management. He knows what he’s doing. He is realistic and to the point about our issues. I highly recommend you consult him. When your heart is broken, due to the unexpected loss of a loved one, it can be difficult to find the strength to deal with the crisis and legal difficulties that ensue. Veronica, by way of her dedication and compassion, helped to provide focus and guidance. She dealt professionally with every aspect and shielded the family from any unnecessary distressing interactions. The legal process can be trying especially when it involves the revisiting the death of a loved one. The defendant’s attorney drags the issue out as long as possible, trying to force a speedy settlement. Veronica remained diligent in the pursuit of reparations. While we became a little anxious for the case to end, Mrs. Richards kept on plowing through the evidence and worked with medical experts to strengthen the case. This case drug on for about 3 years, never once did she sway, bend or waiver. The quick way out was not an option. Thank God for Veronica, while nothing can bring my daughter back, I know that the educational future of my grandchildren is intact and I credit this to Mrs. Richards. Thank you for all that you have done for us. I do not believe that anyone could have ever done a better job!

Veronica Richards helped to give our child a life she deserved. She was with us every step of the way and truly cared about not only our daughter but us as well. Through it all she proved to be the toughest lawyer and did not settle for anything less then what our child needed. She helped us understand everything that was going on and kept us in the loop during a very tough time. We would recommend her very highly to anyone who needs a lawyer.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Wexford, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
