I turned to Brooke after hiring another firm to initiate my divorce, however that firm failed miserably and took thou$and$ of dollars. Sadie immediately went to work on my case, filing only necessary motions, arguing what needed to be done, and getting it done. She did in 8 months what my previous firm failed to do over 3 years, and at half the cost. My divorce was resolved fairly and reasonably with McMorrow Law there every step of the way. I've worked with attorneys my entire career and would absolutely recommend McMorrow Law.

Brooke helped us with a difficult family issue Complicating the issue was the fact that it was an interstate issue but Brooke prevailed. We never felt as though she wasn’t completely involved in solving our problem. She was in constant contact with us and while the issue became more complicated as she progressed, she never lost a step. She pitched a perfect game.

This review is unique in that Brooke represented my husband in divorce proceedings. The lawyer I hired, Deborah Iwanyshyn, I could fill this page with complaints, but this is about Brooke. I feel Brooke kept interest in what is best and fair with both parties in my divorce. After dismissing my lawyer, I was able to speak with Brooke and she wasted no time in completing the process. I got replies to emails in the same day with the up most professional responses. I believe Brooke truly cares about her clients and gets a 5 star in my review!

I have been working with Brooke McMorrow for a few years now. She is a wonderful attorney who knows and cares about my situation. Brooke is always available when I need to speak with her about something, and is great at calming me down when the stress and anxiety get the best of me. She is fair and effective in handling my case, and explains the process in a way that I can understand. I truly enjoy working with her, and feel taken care of by her law firm. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a family law attorney!

I launched my technology start-up in 2011. I had yet to discover exactly how much I did not know – including how to identify appropriate counsel. My first stop for legal advice was with a big name legal firm. They certainly knew their trade, but they also treated my account no differently than US Steel. The large legal organization was accustomed to ‘taking care of business,’ and then sending the bill. I learned my lesson via a bill for $10,000 to review a contract (the contract was for $35,000). Mark was recommended to me by someone who was a few years ahead of me on the tech start-up timeline, and who was successfully emerging from his first priced round. Like me, his start-up began on a shoestring budget. In those early days it is imperative to focus your limited budget on ‘core’ issues. It would be wonderful if there was enough cash from the start to address everything from contract development to shareholders agreements, but the reality is there is not. So how does the new entrepreneur decide which issues are ‘core’ and which can evolve over time? And exactly how will the legal terrain evolve as the organization matures? Mark has been nothing short of a godsend in these regards. At the end of the day the decision is always mine, but he is completely candid regarding the pros and cons of prioritizing one legal action over another. This alone would win him a high recommendation, but he also takes it to another level. He has made it a point to get to know the vision of my company, and to get to know me personally. As a result, his legal advice is tailored to my organization and to my temperament. I recently took a moment to consider the significance of this approach – He would never ask me to implement a strategy that stands in contrast to my personal strengths, and as a result my business strategy has evolved in a way that plays to my strengths. My start-up is now sitting at the threshold of entering its first priced round, and if I had it to do all over again, I would again pick Mark Sullivan.

When your heart is broken, due to the unexpected loss of a loved one, it can be difficult to find the strength to deal with the crisis and legal difficulties that ensue. Veronica, by way of her dedication and compassion, helped to provide focus and guidance. She dealt professionally with every aspect and shielded the family from any unnecessary distressing interactions. The legal process can be trying especially when it involves the revisiting the death of a loved one. The defendant’s attorney drags the issue out as long as possible, trying to force a speedy settlement. Veronica remained diligent in the pursuit of reparations. While we became a little anxious for the case to end, Mrs. Richards kept on plowing through the evidence and worked with medical experts to strengthen the case. This case drug on for about 3 years, never once did she sway, bend or waiver. The quick way out was not an option. Thank God for Veronica, while nothing can bring my daughter back, I know that the educational future of my grandchildren is intact and I credit this to Mrs. Richards. Thank you for all that you have done for us. I do not believe that anyone could have ever done a better job!

Veronica Richards helped to give our child a life she deserved. She was with us every step of the way and truly cared about not only our daughter but us as well. Through it all she proved to be the toughest lawyer and did not settle for anything less then what our child needed. She helped us understand everything that was going on and kept us in the loop during a very tough time. We would recommend her very highly to anyone who needs a lawyer.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Wexford, Pennsylvania?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
