More than 10 years ago we were looking for lawyers who were knowledgable, helpful, easy to talk to, reasonable fee to set up our estate planning. We had consultations with three lawyers altogether and found Mr. James Sullivan to be such lawyer and selected him for our estate planning. During the course of drafting he made suggestions which we didn't think and finalized the document. Along with trust document he set up other documents appropriate to us. The entire transaction was smooth and quite satisfactory. Since then I contacted him to make some changes and seek advice which he provided timely. I am pleased with his services and recommended him to two of my friends.

We selected Jim Sullivan to assist with our estate planning because he came highly recommended by a close relative. We were confident he would be a knowledgeable and capable attorney - and that proved true. However, he was so much more than that! He came to our meeting not only prepared to advise us but ready to listen to our concerns and questions, some of which were of a personal nature. In 1978, my husband and I decided to buy land and build our house in South County. At the time, my dad was a lawyer in New York and he wanted to review (and make a few changes, of course) to our Purchase and Sales Agreement for which we needed a Rhode Island attorney. We did some research, mostly through word of mouth, and all the recommendations led us to Attorney Leo Sullivan, Jim's dad. For many years Leo remained our lawyer, mostly for real estate transactions and our First Wills and Testaments. Jim joined Leo's practice in 1992 after working with the Court and a large firm in Providence. We became friendly with Jim and his wife, Betsy, also an attorney, when we met though mutual friends in Saunderstown. After our children were born we realized it was time to review our Last Wills and Testaments. Knowing Jim & Betsy, we were very happy when Leo suggested that we set up our appointment with Jim. For the last 28+ years Jim has expertly handled any legal work that we've needed. He specializes in Estate Planning. so over the last 10 years he has also handled our Estate Planning needs. I grew up in a family of lawyers and worked in an attorney's office, and can honestly say that in addition to Jim's excellent knowledge of the law & professional manner, he brings two very special attributes to his practice. His innate ability to put his clients at ease in all circumstances and his exceptionally friendly manner, in my opinion, make Jim unique in the world of attorneys. Jim also has infinite patience for a client's questions and is gifted in his ability to clarify legalese in a complicated document in a way that it can be clearly understood by a client like me who's eyes tend to glaze over when reading a legal document! When friends ask who we use for our legal work, of course I recommend Jim without hesitation. In addition to singing his professional praises, I always remark about one of his most important practices which has always impressed me and for which I have great appreciation. Jim personally takes his client's calls, schedules his own appointments, and should I have to leave a message on his voicemail, he ALWAYS returns my call in a timely manner. My husband and I hold Jim and his practice, Sullivan & Sullivan, PC in high esteem and are most confident in recommending him as an attorney you can trust to do excellent work should you have the pleasure of becoming his client.
