Mr. Christopher Lefebvre worked with me on my custody case back in 2017 and when I called asking for any type of advice now that my family is back in this situation, in 2020, he graciously listened to all I had to say, gave me wonderful advice on the spot and also agreed to represent me pro bono because I was so grateful for the amazing work he does, and his generosity and spirit have been life saving. Highly recommend.

I made the typical mistake during my divorce with search out high priced so called “power attorney’s”. I went through 2 different lawyers during the first 7 months of being in and out of court. First I hired a female thinking maybe doing that and being a male it would help in family court. All it helped was that woman to my wallet. She came highly recommended and was considered to be one of the best. She ended up costing me around $8500 for a few months of going no where. As I fired her for not even gaining an inch, saw that all she was doing was stalling my case to milk more money from me. The second man was about the same. Now being at the end of rope and about to lose my rights to my son, I luckily stumbled across Chris. His moto at the time was, “The law is the law.. you don’t have to break the bank to enforce the law.” He literally is the very best lawyer money can buy. His price is totally affordable. He was able to win full placement for me and as a male that is difficult. He treated me like I was his own son and responded to all my emails very fast and effectively. He even would call me at night to check in with me to make sure I was ok with things. He really is one I call a “great power house” attorneys in RI and MA. I also have used him to settle my case against my tax issue. I had to fight against my towns tax Assessor which over 3 years was stealing money from me. With Chris’s stead fast aggressive tactics, he not only Won my case but was able to substantiate just cause to have that person terminated for gross negligence and incompetence. I owe a life time of debts to this man as he has been my guardian angel within the legal system. Don’t waste your time and money on these so called high priced lawyers. They are high in price because people who are in desperation are easy targets. Chris charges an amazing rate. Please call him with your legal needs.. you won’t be disappointed. If he loses your case… I’ll pay your legal fees!

Chris and his staff were upfront, professional and trustworthy from the very beginning. It’s a stressful time in one’s life, especially when you have to take care of your family and you experience challenges due to unforeseen roadblocks, “Covid” that can literally turn someone’s life upside down. Chris, along with his staff Sarah were able to keep me balanced during a difficult time; they answered every call, every question, every email as if I was their only client which provided much breathing room needed through the whole process. I never leave reviews but this is definitely warranted & hope this finds people who could benefit from his service. Sincerely, Mike G

I was served a summons for a hearing with very short notice. My ex was making an unfounded and misguided attempt to reduce the parenting time I have with our child. I hired Christine, and from the beginning she was comforting to me and a strong advocate for my child's rights, and my rights as a father. This sort of situation is extremely stressful and anxiety inducing. She let me know what I needed to do to look my best. She negotiated strongly and fairly with the other attorney. She gave me the confidence to remain calm and collected throughout three hearings. The result was that I not only didn't lose any parenting time, but we achieved a true 50/50 shared placement agreement, which is the most fair for everyone involved. Christine is knowledgeable, confident, and knows what is fair. I would work with her again in an instant if the need arises.

My wife and I reached out to Christine to help with the adoption of my two boys. She guided us through the process and checked in with us regularly. Whenever we hit some unexpected bumps on the road (and we hit quite a few), Christine was always there to offer advice and assistance where possible. She was invested in us the entire time and always responded in a timely manner.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Pawtucket, Rhode Island?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
