Mr Martin. Has represented me in 2010 , 2017 and is the best hands down .after hiring Mr Martin I honestly knew I would be able to sleep a and I would be OK I was looking at 50 years in all, Mr Martin got me less then a year I had serious crimes that I honestly though I was going away along time. I actually hired a attorney on the same case before knowing about Mr Martin and that attorney kept saying I'm looking at 10 years and that was the best deal she could get me well of course I panicked, ,my life was about to be ruined completely. So I had to go to roll call in Horry County and while at roll call I asked several people there who was the best attorney here, several people said that man right there, Mr Martin so I approached him he gave me a business card I went to meet with him the same week ,he was hired on the spot .very fair price for my charges .anyways he got me down from the 10 years that the DA was offering thru the other hired lawyer I hired .and this was the DA 1st, second and 3rd offer all 3 offers was 10 years ,anywaydbdfter Mr Martin was hired I received 10 months and I do have a record so I was no angel in my younger years ..but my point is he was a angel sent down to help me and my family. I'm so greatfull for his experience and knowledge of the law, he knows laws that other lawyers don't even know exist .that alone blew my mind , so with his experience and power he got me basically off .Thank you so much now he has a daughter name ashley and thank God she is a,perfect image in the law field as Mr Martin , just think 2 powerfull attorneys working together (the martins) are unstoppable in my eyes so I suggest you get the best if you want your freedom or the very best outcome you can get in South Carolina. .

I was hanging around some people that I shouldn't have been and got caught up in a situation where I was charged with Trafficking drugs. Alex helped me work through the charges and was able to get them dismissed. He also met with me multiple times to just talk about life choices and the roads that they can lead you down. I truly feel like he is my friend and will always look out for me.

Alex Hyman and his firm are very professional. His attending behaviors are phenomenal and he goes above and beyond in care, regard and representation. My personal experience with his firm was through a very challenging time personally and the care went beyond expectations in regards to the impact the process had on my life and the outcome of my case. I went with Alex after hearing extremely positive personal experiences about his representation and he exceeded those expectations once again. You want Alex and his firm in your corner and on your side!! Honest, Trustworthy and communicates very well. He truly cares about his clients.

I contacted Mr. Richardson on a weekend. First he gets points for being available during a weekend! Secondly, he was very polite and listened to everything I had to say. He gave me more than enough information and his consultation was free. He is very experienced and well versed in his field. He took my case right away and went straight into action. He ended up settling everything in less than a week's time. I've never had to utilize an attorney before and wasn't sure what to expect. He stayed in contact with me and keep me up to date throughout the entire process, which was highly appreciated. Yes, the sticker price of his services aren't cheap, but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for", and Mr. Richardson was worth every penny. He really helped me and my family out of a tight situation. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting an experienced attorney that can get the job done!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Conway, South Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
