Hands down, the best employment attorney in Charleston is Brett Ehman. I have worked with him twice over the last two years and before I found his law firm, searching for a good work-related lawyer in Charleston was actually quite the headache. I called around to many business lawyers and got the run around, but when I called Brett’s office over in North Charleston, I was able to easily schedule an appointment to speak with him. All of the pre-engagement conversations made me feel confident knowing I was dealing with someone who had years of experience on both the defendant and plaintiff sides. Having someone on your side who can think through a case from more than one angle is definitely an added benefit. I’ve worked with Brett primarily on contract disputes and severance agreements and my initial perception proved correct. During our consultations, we have discussed other topics related to business and labor laws and it is clear that he is one of the best employment lawyers the State of South Carolina (and the only one I will ever work with). Beyond his legal knowledge, the main reason I recommend working with him is his communication speed. Even when he was busy with bigger cases, he always responded to my questions over email within an hour or two (normally less). This was extremely helpful in moving my case forward in an efficient way and is something that I’m sure anyone dealing with legal issues related to their work would really appreciate. Did not return the nurse call😔 The office did give me a call, and explained that one of the attorneys did try to call me. They were distinct about not doing the type of case without learning what the type of case was. The voice on the other end was direct and firm. I raised the stars for the call, but am disappointed in the idea that they were more interested in the star rating than discovering any information about the types of cases I may need help with.
