Mrs. Poland has represented my daughter twice and both times the outcome was just as she said. She is an awesome attorney and even more amazing person, which is why I think that makes her such an good attorney. She listens to her clients and has there best interest at heart. She is easy to talk to. She represented my daughter like she was hers. I'd recommend her 10 times over!

Erin Poland handled a child custody case for us. She did an amazing job! We were initially very anxious about the case, but she was always calm, reassuring, encouraging, and well prepared for court. She was patient with us and answered all our questions. She cares about her clients and really advocates for children! We highly recommend her!!!

I went into this with an attorney from a different city and then Ms Poland was recommended to me. To be honest, I had spent so many years terrified, this had gone on so long, I was scared to call her office. But so glad that I did. Ms Poland was amazing, had compassion and empathy, she listened to understand, explained everything, went above and beyond to see this through. I took a deep breath and trusted that she would handle everything, and she absolutely did that and more for us. We have a little more peace now and can continue healing. Im truly grateful for her.

Mrs. Poland has been a bright light in a pretty dark time. Dealing with custody issues and other orders that were necessary was a very scary time for me. While the case still continues, she has supported me and had my back through it all. She has made sure to keep in constant contact and always letting me know what is going on. She is compassionate and understands that this isn't an easy process and explains every step that we could take to reach the goal. She cares about the best interest of children. I HIGHLY recommend reaching out to her for any legal issues that may arise.

Ms. Massey is an extremely insightful, strategic, ground paving attorney. Complexity is without challenge for Ms. Massey as she carefully approaches each case with a subject matter expertise that's noteworthy. Her demeanor and personality enable her to set tremedious strides inside of the courtroom. She offers a helping hand, prideful professionalism, that's appreciated by myself as well as, every client to whom she represents. It's with great pride to have been represented by a premier attorney that has a keen expertise that's consistent. Ms. Massey provides an honest assessment which is invaluable.

Awesome Attorney. We retain her for all our family needs, she s helped us with adoptions and more. She s a very personable person. I can t say enough good things about her. She will tell you like it is and everything s she has told us to this date had come true in all our cases-if she doesn t think you will win a case, she tells you instead of telling you lies and taking money just to get your business as some attorneys do. If you want the best attorney in the area, call Sharon Massey! I recommend her to all my friends and family!!!!

I would absolutely recommend Chris. The charges I was dealing with were serious and I could have faced serious jail or prison time. Chris got me an outcome that is better than I could have imagined. One case was dismissed. The other had judgment deferred and will be dismissed after completing probation. I'm happy to be moving forward with my life and am so glad my family hired Chris.

I'm honored  to give this review for Mr. Chris Clark. Hoping this reaches out to not only civilian but military community as well. I was then referred to Mr. Clark because of the magnitude of  of my case, so if you are looking at  a serious charge you need a trial attorney.  Mr. Clark has been on both sides, he handled my case  professionally and he guided me through every step along the way, with ultimately all my charges being dropped. As a  decorated and honorably discharged Army soldier, I got to keep my life intact with all my benefits and honorable status. So in closing to civilian and Military communities, this is a no-brainer, call Mr Clark. He's in the top percentile of the state for a reason. J.R.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Clarksville, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
