I hired Mr. Mathis for a Divorce/custody case. I paid him a flat rate on $5,000 that he said will cover all cost for this case. I sent him several emails about how children's dad was constantly violating the temporary Court Order in place. I asked him to file a motion on all violations. Mr. Mathis said we already have a date for Final hearing and that we should wait until then to address all of my concerns. But he didn't mentioned anything at the Final Hearing. Then when the hearing was over I asked him why didnt tell the judge about all violations on temporary court order? According to Mr. Mathis the Judge already knew and that we should wait for the Judge's decision. I told him I was very specific and I wanted the Judge to know before making a decision on my case! Mr. Mathis said "representation does not extend post-trial filings." I told him we have already agreed on a flat fee. He said, "If you want us to file any post-trial motions we will need a new retainer fee and representation agreement for that." Why would this be consider post-trial fees? This is something I asked before Final Hearing. I went to the JAG on post and I was given legal advice. I went back to Court and filed a motion. I represented myself! The Jugde asked why none of these was address at the last hearing. I told the Judge I gave all information to Mr. Mathis and that he failed to address my concerns and to file proper motions, and that Mr. Mathis have asked me for another retainer fee! When I hired Mr. Mathis for my divorce and custody, I made the big mistake of also hiring him for another case which I paid him $900. He dropped both cases after I told him I got legal advice at JAG. It is very sad how someone like Mr. Mathis can take advantage of others like me. He knew I am mom of two children with special needs. He seemed knowledgeable about IEP's because he immediately asked me about it at the first consultation. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BEFORE HIRING ANY ATTORNEY. DO NOT BASED YOUR DECISIONS ON THE GOOD REVIEWS YOU SEE IN HERE AS I DID. Ask others that might have gone through similar situations. Good luck! * I was able to post the screenshots of some of some conversations in the emails. After this attorney dropped both cases, I asked for him to send me copies of all motions he filed for my divorce. He said he mailed it to me which I never received. I went back to JAG and they requested that Mr. Mathis mailed them the forms directly. Mr. Jacob claimed he did but JAG did not received the forms. When I asked Mr. Jacob to email me the forms, he said I can just get them from the Court! I PAID him $5,000 I should have the right to get copies of documentations.

They are not professional and rude as hell. Will not recommend them to anyone ever.

I’ve never met and dealt with any law firm like MBK. I was with another Law firm for my divorce and that lawyer did nothing but take my money and accomplish absolutely nothing until a buddy at work mentioned Jacob Mathis, I switched and it was the best decision I’ve made not only did he take care of my divorce but I’ve work with Jacob several more times. I’m in the military and while I was stationed away I had issues with some renters called Jacob and took care of no issues. I just wish I had enough money that I could have him as a lawyer every where I move to just in case. Seriously MBK takes care of their clients like no other and they are straightforward and tell you how it is no sugarcoating anything. I remember the first time I met Jacob after I told him how I just wasted over 5k on absolutely nothing and he says to me my job is to get you what you want and to work with you and move on to the next case, it makes no sense to pile up cases for and let them sit. If you are looking for a good lawyer and one that will fight for you and not waste your time or money then this is the law firm for you.

Were do I start from the time I walked in until the time my case was closed this office of great people made me feel like family. Kudos to the whole office. I requested Mrs. Katie to be my lawyer because I read a review about her being a heavy hitter and will get the job done well for her to be so tiny she will live up to that name. She was very professional from the start very informative about my case very reasonable price and a beast in the court room. I received everything I ask for. Thanks to Mrs Katie and her team of pros I will always recommend them for their services. Thanks again u guys for rocking out my case...🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️
