Called to get information and ask a few questions to see if we needed to proceed with a lawyer. Was told he “is an attorney and doesn't answer questions for free” and was asked if I would like “to hire him so he could look into it.” That is fine. I will go with someone else that is willing to answer some simple questions.

I asked his approach and success rate after he told me he requires a $2,000 retainer. His response: “sounds like you need somebody else”. I don’t believe I’ve ever had a lawyer refuse to tell me his success rate. I do require that knowledge before I pay somebody I don’t know $2,000. I feel like that says a lot about him. I thought future clients might like to know this up front. My intention was not to offend him, it was to conduct smart business.
