The Patterson Bray group was very thorough when explaining my rights and what I could or could not do, under the law. I would recommend them to anyone in search of good advice from an attorney.

I'm a single father who has been through countless false accusations by the mother of my child. My son's mother wanted to pass my son off as another man's that she had been dating on and off for years. She started all of the false accusations right after I had her served with court papers to see my son for the first time and be involved in his life as his father. Attorney Huddleston was in my corner every step of the way and fought hard for me and my little man. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have even had the chance to meet my son, know what he looked like, bond with him, or anything. It is because of Attorney Huddleston that my son and I were granted 50/50 joint custody time together and get to enjoy our favorite meal of tacos together! I am so grateful to Attorney Huddleston for all of his help. I have worked with some lawyers who have taken my money but then only half represented me in hopes of getting more money or flat out failed me in court costing me more money and then they have had the nerve to demand more money from me after their complete failure. It's downright unethical and immoral. Attorney Huddleston is not that kind of attorney and any money spent for his services is well worth it. He really does put his all into fighting for his clients. Even though I am still fighting in court against false accusations from the mother of my son claiming that I am molesting my son, beating him, and abusing him mentally, while she continues to refuse to bring him to pick ups and drop offs, slander me to doctors and therapists that she's set up for our son, and continues to file orders of protection (all dismissed) with her 4th one just dismissed recently, and not knowing how my son is doing or haven't seen him since October, I still hold true to faith that something will change. Having Attorney Huddleston in my corner through it all has truly been a blessing. If you need a lawyer who will go into the court fighting hard for you and for what's morally & legally right, choose Attorney Huddleston. I did and I don't regret it one bit. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Attorney Huddleston. You and your staff are amazing and may God bless you and your family these holidays!

I met Mr.Bob when i was at my lowest seeking help with custody battle on top of financial battles with the local child support office. He did an outstanding job with keeping me updated on important things like court dates and my rights as a father. He helped me to win full time custody of my son whom i missed dearly. He was always a call or text away and acted promptly to whatever the situation was.I truly appreciate his great work ethics and if I had to choose a lawyer for anything it would be him, I feel like he has the right knowledge on just about anything and is always willing to point you to the right direction of who does if he’s not to sure of(which is rarely)…i thank you so much for assisting me.

Mr. Huddleston went above and beyond for our family. He not only did everything in his power to help us, He educated us so we knew what to expect and how to understand everything. He was very respectful and listened to all of our concerns. He became a friend during this entire process. If you need a attorney I can't recommend anyone better than Bob Huddleston. He will get the job done and not drain your pockets in the process.

Mr. Cohn helped me obtain my Social Security Disability benefits. He got all of my records, helped me get evaluations, wrote a Brief to support my hearing, got my case remanded to the Judge by the APPEALS COUNCIL, and then won the re hearing. I could not ask for any better representation.

I hired Mr. Randy Songstad most recently as my attorney for a divorce proceeding. Mr. Songstad is an excellent attorney who knows how to look at all the facts concerning a divorce and come up with a superior strategy to get the most favorable outcome for his client. In my case, he was only concerned about making certain I came out of this proceeding with the best result possible. If anyone needs an attorney who is not just interested in churning files, running up large bills with unnecessary phone calls and useless letters, while trying to make nice with the other parties, but will put all his efforts on your behalf, this is the attorney you want working for you. He is not afraid to go up against anyone and has the courtroom trial skills to get the best outcome possible. This guy is a force to deal with and I'm glad he was on my side! I've also used him in business matters as well, and as a courtroom litagator, any client will be glad they retained Mr. Randy Songstad. Michael

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Cordova, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
