We hired Brandon to resolve a dispute with our insurance company. He was quick and efficient in resolving the matter. Thanks to Brandon we are now replacing the roofs on 48 buildings in our HOA community. Consult with Brandon for any of your legal needs.

We had a wonderful experience with Brandon. Our fire insurance claim was a nightmare. Brandon took all the stress off of us and negotiated a substantial settlement. He thoroughly explained the process in layman's terms and took care of every detail. He was always quick to return calls and emails. His staff is also very kind and helpful. We highly recommend Brandon McWherter.

Brandon has a wonderful knowledge of insurance law and is very easy to work with. We had a house fire where the insurance company didn't want to pay which ended up in a lawsuit. Brandon always kept us informed of what was going on and stayed on top of the ins comp. He did things we never thought an atty would do like came to the house and took time to make sure we had everything documented , as well as helping us find good honest people to help us get estimates on our home and contents, and didn't mind getting his hands dirty literally. He would take time to make sure we understood what was happening, the choices we had and how to proceed. HeGenuinely would listen to us as well about how we felt or answer any questions. This was a very heartbreaking and confusing situation we went through and without Brandon we could have never made it through and the insurance company would have been able to take advantage of us! He is down to earth and all around a good person. We would recommend Brandon to anyone in the same situation and can't say enough about how much he did for us!

In some of the most troubling times of my life and my family's well being Brandon and his office were with me every step of the way. He was very honest, straightforward and far exceeded my expectations in every way. He quickly identified the critical issues I was facing and could anticipate the next move, where to allocate time and energy and when to back off. I would recommend him to anyone. I would expect to hire him again if ever needed. I can't say enough positives about him and his staff.

Griffith Law Firm went above and beyond the call of duty for me. They were courteous, sweet, loving, dependable, hard working, and always welcoming when I called & came by. They truly know the law which makes them a force to be reckoned witha, and definitely the lawyers you want on your team when it comes to fighting for you. It's not about the money at all with them; they are about making sure that you are taken care of and that the insurance company does exactly what they need to do. Everyone at Griffith treated me like I was part of the family rather than just a client. My accident was over a year ago. I did not have a car, but that didn't stop Mr. Griffith. He came to my house, sit down and talked to me. He and Sydney have checked on me to see if I needed anything and to see how I was doing during this whole process. Sydney is such a sweet person. She has kept in contact with me the whole time, making phone calls, just handling all the business. I don't believe I would have been as calm or able to cope as well if I hadn't had such loving people in my corner fighting for me especially Sidney. She is a real jewel. I would recommend Griffith Law Firm to anyone. They work as a team for you!! I can truly say that I am going to miss them. I hope that nothing like this happens again, but if it did, Griffith Law would be the 1st. I called.

John handled my case in a very professional manner and kept me informed of progress as necessary. It was wonderful not to have to deal with the insurance companies and details of the situation. The accident could not have happened at a more stressful time in my life so it was a blessing to have someone take care of those details. A friend recommended John to me and I would recommend him to anyone. The staff was also extremely pleasant, courteous and helpful.

John is an amazing trial lawyer and beyond that, he is just one heck of a nice guy. He is a lawyer you are more likely going to mistake for a best friend. I mean this guy is so approachable and generous with his time. He makes you feel important, because to him you are important. The insurance companies really dislike John and that will make you like him even more. He is a graduate of the Trial Lawyers College. That is kind of a big deal, like a really big deal. In short, that means he is one of the best lawyers you will ever meet and has honed the practice of trial law to a fine science. A must hire.

I was in a bad car accident that left me injured and out of work for some time. Dealing with the insurance companies alone was incredibly frustrating. A friend referred me to Josh Cantrell. I ended up hiring him and he handled everything with the insurance company. I was finally able to just focus on getting my health back and knew he was keeping me informed on what mattered most. His team were very informative, and I really believe his persistence and expertise got me the compensation I needed to move forward. While I wish I wasn’t injured to begin with, Josh C. helped me get a fair result which helped me move on to the next chapter in my life.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Franklin, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
