After choosing the wrong attorney at first that dragged out my divorce case for over a year and not getting anywhere at all, I realized I had to make a change. It seemed all she wanted was to take as much money as she could and never looked out for my best interest. Julia Stovall was highly recommended and I chose to give her a try. I was ready to get past my divorce! I feel truly blessed to have had her take over my case. She was very reasonable with her fees and things were done in a timely manner. One month! Julia is caring, passionate, dedicated, knowledgeable, and an excellent attorney. Highly recommended!

Will Holloway and his team were amazing. They assisted me and fought for me through the process of my case. Not only did they work on my case and help me win even more than I expected, Will and his team showed genuine concern for my well-being through a very difficult and stressful time. The thing that stood out to me the most about Will was that he told me early on that he felt I had a very strong case with the honest truth and facts of my story, and he was right. Thank you Will and team for not only helping me win, but begin the process of putting my life back together again.

Divorce was not something I wanted. Of course, nothing I ever hoped or planned for. I was hurt, sad and scared of what was to come. And now I had to take the huge task of finding the best divorce attorney in Williamson County. When it was time, I took the recommendation of meeting Will Holloway from one of my dearest friends. Thank goodness she was on point. I was very direct and organized with Will and he never once let me down. His communication skills were impeccable and timely. His willingness to get what I wanted done in my time frame was met at every way. I never doubted any information or advice he gave me. I always felt he had my best interests at hand with the utmost sincerity and efficiency. At our final meeting, after the divorce was finalized, Will gave me his final “talk” and it was what I describe as a “pep talk”. His words were kind and insightful. I have to admit there was a small part of me that was sad that I would no longer be meeting with Will again. I found his services to be extremely professional, helpful and most importantly, genuine.

After 21 years of marriage, I found myself in an unwanted divorce. I interviewed a total of five local attorneys in the Franklin area, but knew after my first meeting with Will, he would be the attorney to represent me. You will not find a better attorney who will take the time to understand your individual circumstances and navigate you through potentially one of the most stressful and emotional events of your life, especially when there are children involved. He will give you sound advice and offer a common-sense strategy to get you through the divorce while you’re in the maelstrom of emotions that can cloud your judgement. Will was fully engaged from the beginning to the end. In my particular case, there was an affair involved but instead of making that the central theme, Will directed my focus on the best outcome for my children and me. He explained right from the start there are basically two paths to pursue in a divorce; one is contested and the other is uncontested. In the end, both yield the same results with a divorce decree but the emotional toll and cost would be dramatically different. He is very conscientious of your needs and will not frivolously spend your money. This is what sets Will apart from anyone else you’re considering for representation; he genuinely cares about your ability to move forward with your life post-divorce. Trust me when I tell you this will make a huge difference once the dust settles. I am so grateful for Will’s guidance throughout the entire process and completely satisfied with the outcome. I highly recommend his professional services without any hesitations.

Griffith Law Firm went above and beyond the call of duty for me. They were courteous, sweet, loving, dependable, hard working, and always welcoming when I called & came by. They truly know the law which makes them a force to be reckoned witha, and definitely the lawyers you want on your team when it comes to fighting for you. It's not about the money at all with them; they are about making sure that you are taken care of and that the insurance company does exactly what they need to do. Everyone at Griffith treated me like I was part of the family rather than just a client. My accident was over a year ago. I did not have a car, but that didn't stop Mr. Griffith. He came to my house, sit down and talked to me. He and Sydney have checked on me to see if I needed anything and to see how I was doing during this whole process. Sydney is such a sweet person. She has kept in contact with me the whole time, making phone calls, just handling all the business. I don't believe I would have been as calm or able to cope as well if I hadn't had such loving people in my corner fighting for me especially Sidney. She is a real jewel. I would recommend Griffith Law Firm to anyone. They work as a team for you!! I can truly say that I am going to miss them. I hope that nothing like this happens again, but if it did, Griffith Law would be the 1st. I called.

John handled my case in a very professional manner and kept me informed of progress as necessary. It was wonderful not to have to deal with the insurance companies and details of the situation. The accident could not have happened at a more stressful time in my life so it was a blessing to have someone take care of those details. A friend recommended John to me and I would recommend him to anyone. The staff was also extremely pleasant, courteous and helpful.

John is an amazing trial lawyer and beyond that, he is just one heck of a nice guy. He is a lawyer you are more likely going to mistake for a best friend. I mean this guy is so approachable and generous with his time. He makes you feel important, because to him you are important. The insurance companies really dislike John and that will make you like him even more. He is a graduate of the Trial Lawyers College. That is kind of a big deal, like a really big deal. In short, that means he is one of the best lawyers you will ever meet and has honed the practice of trial law to a fine science. A must hire.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Franklin, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
