I filed with them months ago and I’ve never been able to get a hold of my attorney. I’ve called countless times today and someone keeps picking up and hanging up the phone. I’m fixing to go somewhere else and dismiss my case with these people. Very unprofessional. You can never get a hold of your attorney and that is unacceptable.

My case was in 2015. I thought everything was fine until recently. Our mortgages were dismissed , unbeknownst to me. I've been paying 1st mortgage but not second. Now having problems with 2nd mortgage and cannot get any help from Young's office. I have asked for a meeting and willing to pay for the time to discuss this problem but they won't give me an appointment. The lady in the office has been contacted several times and appears half heartedly to contact second mortgagee. Evidently no one there knows what to do or doesn't want to help me.

John R. Meldorf III was my Worker's Compensation Lawyer several years ago. He was extremely likeable, respectful, and competent. John sent me copies of everything he presented to WC concerning my case. My settlement was for a much larger amount than I had expected. I highly recommend him for anyone with a legal matter!

The front receptionist, older lady, is very helpful every time I've called. Called 3 weeks ago to see what was up with my case and today I got the letter saying I was released 6 months early due to everything being paid off! She is great! I don't know her name but she is an angel!

I have known Mollie for over 30 years but lost contact after university. After moving home to help my injured mother I was so thankful to find that she was practicing law in Chattanooga. She provided invaluable advise, guidance and comfort with our POA process and more and I’ll be working with her on multiple needs with our family in the future. Mollie is an outstanding lawyer and person with the utmost professionalism, integrity and grace and I trust her without doubt. I give her my highest recommendation and know you’ll also have peace of mind when working with her. Thank you so much Mollie for all your work, I’m forever grateful!

Mollie was there for my family during a very difficult time in our lives. She represented us well throughout the entire process from start to finish (conservatorship). She outlined what would happen, how much it would cost, and kept us up to date each step the along the way. She was graciouss and kind to my sister and me and we were so happy with the way she handled our case.

Mollie has assisted my company with Guardianship work for years. She does a wonderful job, is thorough in her work and research, and possesses a great deal of knowledge and expertise in Estate, Probate and Guardianship. She is always reliable, responsive, and proactive with her clients and cases. I have worked with a great deal of other attorneys in past years, but Mollie's promptness, communication and attention to detail have by far outperformed.

Mr. Larry Ables has played a highly significant role in providing both compassion and knowledge for my son throughout a dangerous mental crisis. Mr. Ables has been instrumental with providing resources and availability while guiding us through the courtroom process. I highly recommend Larry Ables and feel comforted knowing that he upholds the expertise needed to protect and defend the citizens in Hamilton County suffering with mental health issues.

Mr. Ables has made 2 court appearances for me. One, with only a moments notice. His results were consistent with the expectations he had explained to me clearly before our court appearance. I am in the process of hiring for additional litigation here, in Hamilton County

Gary handled an insurance-related claim for me. I felt like he genuinely cared about me, and he was great at the deposition. I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer. Excellent all around.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Hixson, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
