I paid to have a consultation with him and he ended up giving me advice that led me into getting arrested for parental interference. After the arrest he would not talk to me unless I paid him $2500. Definitely would not recommend to anyone.

I have found that most of the people that write negative reviews about any attorney is simply because they didn't get their way regarding their case. Attorneys always seem to be a scapgoat for people that can't acknowledge their own wrong doings. Doug Carter is one of the best attorney's around. He is kind, sincere and tries to do the best for his clients with the facts that he is handed. Attorney's are not god. They are not miracle workers. They are NOT YOUR THERAPIST FOR ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS! You might want to stop and think before you post negative comments on here about anyones character and what that says about YOUR character. Which is probably the exact reason your case didn't go your way. Doug Carter has been practicing law for over 35 years. Anyone that been around that long practicing law certainly doesn't say "horrible attorney to me."

I had a simple case for mediation for a change in visitation schedule between myself and ex husband. Mr. Carter kept telling me how it would be SO simple for me to gain child support and keep my primary custody....WRONG. We get into mediation and MY lawyer gets chummy with my ex and I wind up with almost nothing in child support AND I lost 1/2 custody to my ex because Mr. Carter talked a good talk when I hired him but did NOT walk the walk when needed. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE

I was a single mom that was in full time nursing school and worked while the father of my child harassed us constantly and never paid child support. Doug not only responded very quickly and put the "dead beat dad" in jail but he knew the strings to pull to keep him there until the "dead beat dad" either straightened up or signed over rights. It took almost three years and many trips to court but the rights were signed over. During the three years our son never had contact with his father due to the risk of emotional damage and drug abuse, which had happened in front of him before. Doug also made sure of this. Doug never missed a beat and worked with me on the money. He is a great attorney and a good man.
