Jason Hines is very knowledgeable about the conservatorship process. Joshua Collins is very good about setting up times for me to ask questions regarding these matters. Highly recommend!

Use this firm if you want to be billed beyond belief and have absolutely nothing done for you. They will fail to do anything they say they will do, fail to respond to basic questions via email, pass you from attorney to attorney with no explanation, ignore basic requests, fail to update their own files with proper contact information, fail to communicate with opposing counsel appropriately and send you bill after bill after bill for the incompetence. I paid over $10,000.00 for absolutely nothing except a mediocre accompaniment to an initial custody hearing (an attorney I did not hire showed up, she knew absolutely nothing about my case) and a completely toothless divorce complaint.

Divorce is an incredibly painful process to go through in so many ways. However, having the right kind of attorney makes a world of difference. If you want someone who is truly professional and is honest, caring, compassionate, highly intelligent and tough as nails when needed then I recommend Katie Chambers at Sobieski, Messer, & Elledge. It took 2 years for the case to come to an agreement, but Katie was patient and helped me get a fair settlement in mediation. Katie was not only my attorney, but she has become my friend as well. So, if you are in search of a divorce attorney then look no further because Katie Chambers is the one who will stand by your side to the end. Thanks, Katie.

Clay helped me in my time of need.
Without his support and expertise, I truly wouldn't have been able to make it through my legal situation.

All around terrible experience. They wasted thousands of my dollars for no results which ended up with me firing them. Whitney was late to both court hearings wasn’t prepared either time never touched base with me before either hearing no game plan. Months in between with no updates or info. Jason was rude and not professional at all. I hired him at first then was pass to Whitney I called her out on wasting my money and she passed me along to some new hire they just got on to the firm, that’s when I fired them and took my chances on my own.

Update:
Mr. Hines (Jason) saw my below review and immediately wrote me a sincere apology for his approach with my mother and his failure to gather the information that would have led to a better experience. He assured me he will improve the firm's intake process to make sure this never happens again. I greatly appreciate him reaching out and admitting his error and I will make sure my mother knows he apologized. I've added a star to my overall review in light of his follow-up.
Original Review:
I am not reviewing LaFevor & Slaughter on their skill with lawfare, but rather my experience consulting them.
I contacted this firm to have someone come out to my dying mother's hospital and help her draft a will and powers of attorney. They told me I could pay for a phone consultation and they would determine if her case was worth the travel.
I pre-paid for the consultation, and when the time came for the call, the man on the phone, Jason, didn't appear to have been informed about our situation at all.
He immediately cracked a death joke to my mother who has been given less than 6 months to live. In his defense, he did not know she was dying because he didn't ask any questions about our situation. He just gave us a basic quote that ended up being over twice what we paid to a much more professional and sympathetic attorney.
I have given LaFevor & Slaughter 2 stars only because they were easy to get a hold of and their scheduler was very accommodating with an unexpected delay on our end, but I would not recommend this firm to anyone requiring any kind of sensitivity around death.

I had the privalege of knowing a founding partner of Egerton McAfee, the late Mr. Bill Davis. Over the years Egerton McAfee has provided much needed probono work for mulitple non-profits located in Knoxville. It is a well known fact that if you want to get it right the first time - Egerton McAfee is going to get the call no matter what the rate/fee. A special Thank You to Mr. Dan Holbrook who was recruited a long long time ago by dear Mr. Davis. Thank You!

Complete rip off. In a simple divorce I paid these crooks over 15K before mediation. I was charged 180 for a missed phone call, charged 40 bucks per email,(sending and receiving). They charged me for emails saying that I need to put money in the"trust" and when I pay them, I get an email acknowledging the receipt, and charged 40 bucks for that email. A never ending cycle. These people are true crooks.
