Amelia is very knowledgeable and professional. She is very thorough in preparation of legal documents and genuinely cares about her clients legal needs.

After consultation we hired Elder Law for legal service, estate planning and public benefits planning. We were in direr need because of health. As it turned out health has improved. So far after 4 months we have received legal and estate planning such as Last Wills and Testaments, Living Wills, etc. So far have been very satisfied with service and particularly our Life Care Planning Attorney.

At our first consultation with Amelia, my brother and I knew we had found the team to guide us in caring for our parents. Through the following years of in home care of our mother with Alzheimer’s, through our father’s care after her death, Amelia and her group were everything that we needed. They are truly dedicated to giving families the support and expertise they need. I wish I could give them 10 stars, but they have my gratitude for life.

We we have been Special Needs Trust (SNT) clients of Amelia G. Crotwell in Knoxville, TN, since 2011. She established the SNT for my adult sister with MS, and our association has been helpful beyond description. Patient, proactive, and thorough. Amelia has guided our awareness that SNTs are complex and subject to modification over time. She is alert to changes in laws and procedures and keep us us up to speed via annual meetings and general availability to address our concerns through the year. Her gifted social worker, Jill Shoffner, connected my sister with an ideal caregiver, identified helpful community services and transportation sources, and made regular visits to my sister's home to keep Amelia abreast of progress with ongoing health and safety initiatives. We are well-informed about the benefits of an SNT, outfitted with all of the documents necessary to maintian one, and comforted by Amelia's competent, caring approach to serving her clients.

Amelia and her team have instrumental in helping me with Special Needs trust planning for my daughter. She went above and beyond, with many phone calls, staying on the phone with me during conversations with insurance, government and agencies to help me. We went through a lengthy and complex appeal process for medicaire benefits. She is very compassionate,patient, attentive and an excellent communicator. Did I mention she also is a fine lawyer? I highly recommend her team. A true jewell.

I honestly don't even know where to begin! I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders that I've carried around for 3 years! As regular folks, we have NO idea the complexity of senior estate planning, benefits or assistance (if needed). We hired Elder Law of East TN less than three months ago and now my 84-year-old mother, who has dementia, is living somewhere safe and beautiful with wonderful staff and round-the-clock care! Elder Law of East TN was critical to our family in trying to manage our relative's financial and healthcare situation. With their help, we secured conservatorship, consolidated finances in a pooled trust, won TennCare medical approval and ensured that our relative will be cared for into the future. Amelia helped us consider our options at every turn and her staff helped us with the logistics and referrals. I don't know where we would be without having had their assistance.

Met with Mrs. Crotwell to get legal advice. She did not give advice, rather several "options" in our case. We specifically asked her for advice numerous times during the $350 consultation, she said all "options" could work. Her office does not give her rates out over the telephone, you have to pay and have the consultation with her to get them. This should have been our first clue that she is definitely out for the money. When asked if we could call her office with any follow up questions after our consultation, she hesitated, said we could call but would not get the opportunity to speak directly with her. She was not helpful to our family. We definitely would not recommend her. We felt like we wasted time and money on the consultation.

I have personally used Amelia's services twice, and was extremely impressed with her responsiveness, compassion, and composure during a time when our family's emotions were extremely high. Class.
