I’m not sure if he’s given up and about to retire but he will run up charges and take your money so that you can get no results. He will lengthen the case purposely to add extra charges and leave you with thousands extra that you didn’t expect. Will he get the job done. The answer is no. Chose someone else.

Mr. Wykoff handled my divorce case, he did not look out for my best interest or try to negotiate on my behalf. He was offended that I took the time to look up what my rights were for mediation. I did not feel he was trustworthy because he never did what he said he was going to do but he ran up quite a bill. Lastly he made an unnecessary an inappropriate remark to my daughter. I would never recommend Mr. Wykoff to anyone.

Mr. Wykoff is the most spineless, incompetent, lawyer I have had the misfortune of giving several thousand dollars. He sits in the courtroom with a smug grin, never lifting a finger to object to anything the opposing counsel or witnesses state. He lost me custody of my child and I will never forgive him. If you are smart, you will look elsewhere for legal counsel. Just call his office and listen to the sleazy ad playing while you're on hold. It makes it sound as if he's selling used cars. If you choose him, you will undoubtedly lose, and now that you are informed about his lack of expertise, you will only have yourself to blame.

Mr. Wykoff has represented me over the years on various matters including a divorce, post-divorce custody and child support issues, a traffic matter, criminal matters involving my child, and has even ended threatened civil litigation against me with a well crafted letter. He provided me with outstanding results on every matter he has represented me on. I would highly recommend him as an attorney.

I recommend Ed Anderson without hesitation. Our family started my daughter’s disability case before Covid 19. Due to long delays and denials, we sought the assistance of Mr. Anderson. He immediately lifted our stress. Mr. Anderson filed the appropriate paperwork quickly and answered our phone calls, emails, and requests sooner than any other attorney we have dealt with previously. Mr. Anderson explained the paperwork, the process, and court hearing which relieved our concerns. We never felt alone. The court hearing went smoothly. Without Mr. Anderson’s appearance at the hearing, I know my daughter’s case would not have been approved. If you have a disability case, please contact Mr. Anderson and let him handle the case. You will not be disappointed.

The reason Ed Anderson’s reviews are so positive and encouraging is due to the simple fact that he is absolutely the best of the best. Ed is truly a considerate attorney, never making me feel uncomfortable about my diseases. Ed’s presentation of my medical and work documents were exceptionally well structured. I have to mention that the entire office works closely together in regard to acquiring documentation, and Dana, the paralegal I have been working with is incredible. I will end with my sincere recommendation to anyone looking for help with their disability questions. Ed Anderson, and his team at Kenneth Miller Law and Associates, are nothing short of spectacular.

I consulted with Mr. Myers amidst a confusing and stressful settlement process following an auto accident. He was exceedingly generous in sharing his time, expertise, and understanding of the law. I think it speaks particularly highly of him that in my case he advised against further legal action, a recommendation that he explained clearly and compassionately. Ultimately, thanks to him I was able to spare myself needless stress and financial expense by resolving the matter myself. If I ever find myself in a similar situation, his will be the first number I call. I strongly recommend his services to anyone in need of representation or legal guidance in his practice areas.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Knoxville, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
