2
Knowledgeable and experienced attorneys
“Mr. Baker is an excellent attorney. He tries to make you as comfortable as possible with your own situation and get you a great deal with the court. I'm glad I didn't go to anyone else.”
3
Responsive and communicative with clients
“The communication was always amazing. Lance and his team come highly recommended from me!”
4
Compassionate and understanding approach
“Unlike my previous attorney, who was virtually inaccessible and uninvolved, Laura truly dedicated her time and effort to understand my case. She not only took the time to personally call and meet with me but also demonstrated a genuine commitment to my legal matters.”
5
Affordable and fair pricing
“Chance was very fairly priced, easy to work with, and achieved the result I had hoped for.”
Cons
1
Unresponsive and difficult to reach
“Been trying to call them for 3 days now even went on their site and requested communication and still haven't heard from them the mailbox for the all lawyers is full and every other option don't have a mailbox.”
2
Lack of attention and preparation for cases
“Lance Baker had months to be prepared for court and he dropped the ball at my expense. He never returned my calls and I was left blowing in the wind in the end. On court date he never even showed up.”
3
Rude and dismissive treatment of clients
“The assistant is absolutely no help. I got aggravated. I explained that I understood he was busy and it's not his fault, but ive been waiting for 3 days with not much time for games that I wish she would have mention he maybe didn't have time instead of giving me the run around for 3 days for nothing. Then hung up on me after I expressed being a little aggravated.”
4
High upfront consultation fees
“Be ready for a $”
5
Failure to deliver promised services
“After $5000 spent and 3 years wasted, we are still in the same legal situation. This firm will take your money and not do the work, as promised.”

A ticket I received turned out to be a Class A misdemeanor. Couldn't just pay a fine, had to appear in court. After looking up Class A misdemeanor it appeared more serious than a standard ticket, so I chose to seek legal advice. I called the Baker law firm and Mr Baker himself returned my call. I was set up with a meeting the next day and related what had happened. He felt quite certain he could get the case dismissed, possibly without a court appearance, and if that wasn't possible a short appearance in court and court costs, and the problem would be solved. Within a few hours his secretary called and informed me he had negotiated the dismissal. I did have to appear in court the next day but that went smoothly in less than a half hour. I felt like he and his staff truly cared about my problem. I give the Baker Law firm my highest recommendation. Lynn Coleman

I recommend Ed Anderson without hesitation. Our family started my daughter’s disability case before Covid 19. Due to long delays and denials, we sought the assistance of Mr. Anderson. He immediately lifted our stress. Mr. Anderson filed the appropriate paperwork quickly and answered our phone calls, emails, and requests sooner than any other attorney we have dealt with previously. Mr. Anderson explained the paperwork, the process, and court hearing which relieved our concerns. We never felt alone. The court hearing went smoothly. Without Mr. Anderson’s appearance at the hearing, I know my daughter’s case would not have been approved. If you have a disability case, please contact Mr. Anderson and let him handle the case. You will not be disappointed.

The reason Ed Anderson’s reviews are so positive and encouraging is due to the simple fact that he is absolutely the best of the best. Ed is truly a considerate attorney, never making me feel uncomfortable about my diseases. Ed’s presentation of my medical and work documents were exceptionally well structured. I have to mention that the entire office works closely together in regard to acquiring documentation, and Dana, the paralegal I have been working with is incredible. I will end with my sincere recommendation to anyone looking for help with their disability questions. Ed Anderson, and his team at Kenneth Miller Law and Associates, are nothing short of spectacular.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Knoxville, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
