Mrs. Guy represented my young man & she not only handled the situation with care, she was able to get a very serious charge dropped & get his sentence suspended. She kept us informed even after her work was technically complete & help to get his sentence suspended. I appreciate her care, intentionality, consideration, & all the work she did for my son. I would absolutely recommend her services and her heart to serve others.

Amanda is a phenomenal attorney. She handled my case with authority and explained to me just what was going to happen before we ever stepped foot in the courtroom and guaranteed me a slam dunk. We appeared in court 7/25/19 and she delivered just like she told me months in advance. I highly recommend that if anyone lives in the Nashville area and needs an excellent attorney that Amanda Guy be your first choice if she is available.

If you’re searching for a criminal attorney, search no further. At 30 years old, I had never been in trouble before in my life, so I had no idea for what I was in store for, which is why I’m so glad I got referred to Amanda Guy. She’s kind, patient, thorough, and extremely hard working. She knows what she’s doing and will help guide you through the process. She literally never stops fighting for you. She would be working on my case at all hours of the day, calling and emailing at anytime, to not only me, but also to the hoards of my friends and family who were panicking throughout my entire situation. She makes you feel like you’re her number one priority, which is a great thing for an attorney, because legal trouble is scary. Fact. It’s your life you are gambling with, and you want to feel secure, and you want to feel like you’re getting the best representation that you can get. She was even in contact with either myself or my friends/family everyday while she was on vacation outside of the country. She’s a sweetheart, and a bad ass. Amanda is a great attorney, and a great person. She talks to you like you’re a real person, and will help explain all of the legal terms and madness. In the courtroom she’s very articulate and doesn’t stutter or stumble over her words like I saw and heard so many other attorneys do over my 6 month bout with legal troubles. I was arrested on 7 felonies and 1 mistdemeanor, facing serious time, and she got it dropped down to 1 Felony with no time served. I really can’t say enough good things about Amanda. She will do everything in her power for you. She’s extremely clever, intelligent, thorough, and passionate about what she does. It shows through her work ethic and her results. Thanks to Amanda, I’m not sitting in prison, and I can focus on putting this all behind me and moving on with my life. Thank you for everything, Amanda.

Simply amazing!! Amanda was very respectful and actually took the time to listen to my case unlike most attorneys that don’t pay attention to detail. I went through two other attorneys on this case before having Amanda’s counsel & she was able to get me the best deal possible. She listens. She will fight for you. Also, I loved that she took the time to explain the “Legal Lango” that makes sense to me. I’ve had many lawyers over the years but I will never forget Amanda. I HIGHLY recommend her. I pray I’m able to stay out of trouble but if I ever need Legal assistance in the future she is who I will be using. She gave me peace of mind and since the second I met her I never questioned or doubted her determination towards my case. That’s mean more to me than anything else. Thank you

Despite being a seemingly busy firm, I felt like a priority and that my time was valued. Justin took the time to understand my situation and tailored their approach to meet my needs. Their personalized attention made a significant difference in comparison to other companies.

Best attorney ever. She took every call and returned every email. Explained everything in a manor in which I could understand. Sat down with me 2 weeks before my social security hearing and went thru medical records with and provided honest feedback. She wrote a brief for the judge the day of my hearing. She was well organized and ready to fight for me. I was made to feel like I was the most important person. Love her spunk and drive along with her big heart. Thanks for the wonderful job you did for me Ann. You will never be forgotten. Susan Dole

I’ve hired Ann Tycer to represent me in my fight for disability benefits after finding many recommendations for her, but even those did not do justice to her professionalism she gracefully applies while making you feel like a beloved family member. She has a way of connecting on a human level, you do not feel like just a client but a person she truly wants to help. She has taken the anxiety out of this difficult venture and that alone places her at 100 stars in my book!

Great firm. They represent me on my will, trusts, business, etc. They have always been good with me. They care. My primary attorney is William Harbison, one of the partners, and he is a great guy. I'm very fortunate to have found him and this firm. Plus, he knows many people in other areas, that he can recommend. I found my accountant through him. I enjoy working with him and others at this firm. They care about their clients.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Nashville, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
