Robert Vaughn is representing me is a criminal case, and I could not be more pleased with the service I am receiving. I have been falsely accused of some very serious charges, and after meeting with Mr. Vaughn to discus my case I knew I had found my attorney. He showed genuine concern for my situation never passing judgement. He was very knowledgeable about the charges I am facing and took the time to fully explain all facets of my situation, his recommended defense, and anticipated outcome. I left his office that day with a sense of peace and security that I had not had since the day I was charged. My faith is renewed at every court date seeing Mr. Vaughn in action. He is always prepared, Poised, confident and professional. He is truly brilliant in the court room. He understood me and treated me as a PERSON and NOT just a client or a person who had been charged with a crime. He is also pragmatic yet aggressive in making sure he gets a great result. He has integrity and good knowledge of the law. On top of all of that, he is easy to reach, and stays in contact with me keeping me informed at all times. He has an amazing assistant (Lisa Lee) in his office as well. She always gets my messages to Mr. Vaughn, and lets me know when I should expect a return call from him. She is so thoughtful and sincere. She is never short with me when I call. I am sure that with any other office I would not be receiving the kind of treatment I have gotten with Mr. Vaughn and his assistant, Lisa. Mr. Vaughn is comparable in cost, and yet excels in practice...I feel like I am getting so much more than what I am paying for. He is an amazing criminal attorney, and I am so thankful to have found him. I would strongly recommend Mr. Vaughn to anyone in need of a great criminal attorney. He will fight for justice. He is a dedicated, passionate, brilliant and compassionate lawyer. The accused needs the best attorney on their case and you have found the best!

Please read this complete review. It could save your future. I suppose I couldn't find the words to speak highly enough of Robert Vaughn. He is a criminal defense lawyer only. Not a jack of all (legal) trades. So, if you only do one thing for 31 years, you get damn good at it. He is very good. I am a licensed professional with no previous criminal record, and left home one day only to encounter a life nightmare. Police Officers are human, and highly stressed people usually. They are not perfect, and I can assure you some officers will twist things to fit a category they wish to place you in. Especially if they decide they don't like something about you. And then to have an officer show up that wasn't even there and write a criminal warrant on me, I was at the time stunned. Mr. Vaughn told me from the first meeting what would take place, and it all did, exactly as he told me. Mr. Vaughn has flat fees for General Sessions, and Criminal Court. DO NOT get sucked into that per hour fee, it is a come on, it starts low and can and will rise endlesssly. I have two business associates who cautioned me on that when I was attorney shopping. Mr. Vaughn has very reasonable fees, especially to be a professional of his caliber. He is one of the top three criminal lawyers in the opinion of a Nashville judge I know from an old business matter. You don't need any other names, you have the one you need here. Robert Vaughn. My case was dismissed and exponged from permanent record. I'm not sure if all the Police Officers involved in my case like Mr. Vaughn, but I can assure you they respect him. Thank you Robert Vaughn for saving my professional license, my job, my reputation both professionally and personally. Also, Robert returns calls daily, try to find that in another attorney. You may, but I doubt it. Don't ever believe you can't end up with a criminal charge, out of the clear blue. You can. And if you do, call Robert Vaughn, you'll be very glad you did. I am.

I am very pleased with Mr. Vaughn, I was scared and alone but he and Ms. Lisa was there to help me to know what to do. If it hadn't been for them my husband would be in prison. We would have lost him to death due to his medical ailments, but Mr. Vaughn took the bull by the horns and got my husband home. I am truly greatful for his sensitivity and thoroughness. Now my husband is home where he belongs. My husband was facing 18 years for a charge that happened 16 years ago. He was truly innocent of the allegations, but was unable to stand trial a second time to prove his innocence. Mr. Vaughn is a Godsend to our family. We will forever pray for him and his family. Mr. Vaughn was always there to listen even when I was not very resonable. He was always accessible. Always professional. and will forever be a truly great person.

April is an excellent attorney, knowledgeable, personal, well spoken, and trustworthy. She is well versed in her field. She kept me in the loop and walked me through the entire process. Her clam and professional demeanor helped dissolve very tense situations, however, tough and aggressive with the offense when necessary. She was upfront about the risks and costs of each strategy. You won't find a more capable, ethical, and hard-working lawyer. I highly recommend April Nemer.

Best attorney ever. She took every call and returned every email. Explained everything in a manor in which I could understand. Sat down with me 2 weeks before my social security hearing and went thru medical records with and provided honest feedback. She wrote a brief for the judge the day of my hearing. She was well organized and ready to fight for me. I was made to feel like I was the most important person. Love her spunk and drive along with her big heart. Thanks for the wonderful job you did for me Ann. You will never be forgotten. Susan Dole

I’ve hired Ann Tycer to represent me in my fight for disability benefits after finding many recommendations for her, but even those did not do justice to her professionalism she gracefully applies while making you feel like a beloved family member. She has a way of connecting on a human level, you do not feel like just a client but a person she truly wants to help. She has taken the anxiety out of this difficult venture and that alone places her at 100 stars in my book!

Great firm. They represent me on my will, trusts, business, etc. They have always been good with me. They care. My primary attorney is William Harbison, one of the partners, and he is a great guy. I'm very fortunate to have found him and this firm. Plus, he knows many people in other areas, that he can recommend. I found my accountant through him. I enjoy working with him and others at this firm. They care about their clients.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Nashville, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
