If you are in search of legal representation that embodies professionalism, dedication, and exceptional courtroom prowess, I wholeheartedly recommend Brooke. My experiences with her services, which spanned across complex cases including a divorce, multiple custody disputes, and a pivotal case concerning the acquisition of passports for my children, have unequivocally demonstrated her outstanding capabilities and commitment to her clients' best interests. Brooke distinguishes herself not only through her legal acumen but also through her remarkable ability to maintain composure and clarity under pressure. Her responsiveness to communications, even under the most stressful circumstances, is unparalleled. She possesses a rare blend of intelligence and thoughtfulness, consistently offering strategic advice and insights that have proven invaluable in navigating the complexities of my cases. Her courtroom demeanor is that of a composed and formidable advocate, always prepared and several steps ahead of the opposition. Brooke’s approach is both strategic and empathetic, ensuring that while the legal objectives are pursued with tenacity, the human element of each case is never overlooked. For anyone requiring legal assistance that comes with a genuine commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes, Brooke is an exemplary choice. Her dedication to her clients extends beyond the mere provision of legal services; she is a steadfast supporter and advisor. Having Brooke in your corner is not just an asset; it is a necessity for those seeking justice and resolution in their legal matters.

Brooke and her team did an absolutely amazing job helping me navigate a not-so-standard divorce. My husband and I had multiple properties and a business together, and let's just say things were not amicable between us. From the first call to the final decree and beyond (while sorting out financial separation), I couldn't ask for a better advisor. Brooke made a very intimidating process very easy to understand, and she did an amazing job guiding me through each step while also being sensitive to the emotional and other burdens of divorce. I would absolutely recommend Usher Family Law to anyone facing divorce in a not-so-amicable situation. We were able to resolve things relatively quickly and I was 100% divorced, free, and financially separated within one year. She charges competitive rates and she is worth every penny, given the incredible value she delivers to her clients, whom she handles with care.

I cannot say enough good about Brooke. From our first consultation, I knew I was in good hands. She has navigated my extremely tumultuous case with ease, keeping me updated every step of the way. I have found that with most attorneys, it is hard to get steady communication, but not with Brooke. She was always responsive, even once during an emergency on a Sunday. She stayed calm and reassured me even when my case got very complicated and fought to get the outcome I wanted. If you are looking for a family attorney who is smart, quick-thinking, hard-working, and compassionate, Brooke is the one for you!

I can not begin to share how thankful I am for Brooke's guidance and expertise through my divorce and custody case. When I began this process, I was scared of what the future would hold. Brooke guided me through all my options, expertly crafted a plan, and kept me fully informed every step of the way. Brooke is an amazing lawyer who is skilled at what she does and truly cares for her clients. I simply can not recommend her enough.

Best attorney ever. She took every call and returned every email. Explained everything in a manor in which I could understand. Sat down with me 2 weeks before my social security hearing and went thru medical records with and provided honest feedback. She wrote a brief for the judge the day of my hearing. She was well organized and ready to fight for me. I was made to feel like I was the most important person. Love her spunk and drive along with her big heart. Thanks for the wonderful job you did for me Ann. You will never be forgotten. Susan Dole

I’ve hired Ann Tycer to represent me in my fight for disability benefits after finding many recommendations for her, but even those did not do justice to her professionalism she gracefully applies while making you feel like a beloved family member. She has a way of connecting on a human level, you do not feel like just a client but a person she truly wants to help. She has taken the anxiety out of this difficult venture and that alone places her at 100 stars in my book!

Great firm. They represent me on my will, trusts, business, etc. They have always been good with me. They care. My primary attorney is William Harbison, one of the partners, and he is a great guy. I'm very fortunate to have found him and this firm. Plus, he knows many people in other areas, that he can recommend. I found my accountant through him. I enjoy working with him and others at this firm. They care about their clients.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Nashville, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
