Aaron could’ve fought for my daughter and instead he did what any public defender would do and took a deal. He could’ve easily beat it in trial. It was easier to take the deal and she got stuck doing some jail time and three years probation instead.

I would like to start off by first just saying Thank you Aaron Kimsey. My son has not ever been in any trouble at all until last year. This was the most challenging year of my life after discovering my son has mental health issues and was arrested. Like any parent I was in tears also worried and did not know what to do. All I could think about was my son sitting in jail. I thought of one person who I knew that could help my son. That person is Aaron Kimsey and his wonderful team. I want to personally thank you for all of the phone calls you made on my son's behalf, all of the long hours you put into his case and of course the amazing job you always did in court and winning the case. I also want to thank your whole team for all the phonecalls reminding us of upcoming court dates and answering any questions we had. Most of all I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the understanding of my son's mental health issues. You spoke to him calmly and assured him everything would be okay. You also went beyond what anyone else would have done and that was answering your phone all hours of the night when he just needed someone to talk to (other than a parent). That truly takes someone special to take the time to talk to him until he was calm and reassuring once again that every thing was going to be okay. I appreciate you and will forever be grateful for everything you have done for my son. I recomend Aaron Kimsey to anyone who needs a great hardworking defense attorney. Aaron you truly are the best. Thank you once again I will not ever forget your kindness.

I live out of state so finding an attorney wasn't easy. Well she sent me a letter that was hand written not a form letter. That impressed me. I consulted with her and decided to hire her. She handled everything .

I'm a first time divorcee completely unaware of the complexities of divorce with one child. Thankfully I found Ms .Scott. After a first time consolation I immediately knew she could help me. Her professionalism and ability to articulate legal lingo to a non lawyer such as myself really eased the stress of the divorce process. Most people I know that have gotten divorce talk about how awful it was or how much they feel they were taken advantage of by there spouse. But because of Ms. Scotts excellence I can say that never happened to me. additional pros Fair Retainer fee Quick to respond time to emails and phone calls

I recently brought on Allison to help me with my divorce. It was a fairly amicable agreement between me and my former husband but I still wanted to move on quickly and Allison made that happen, she explained all of the paperwork and helped me get through it all as quickly as possible. In addition, I was very emotional on my hearing date but Allison was very sensitive to this and brought me tissues and was very caring. She is exactly who I needed by my side that day. She even made the the experience pleasant. I would definitely recommended her to anyone!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Sevierville, Tennessee?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
