I had the honor and privilege to work for the Law Office of Joe R. "Jay" Johnson, II. It was an incredible experience being able to work with such a great group of people. Jay, Steven, Judy, Emily, and Jeanine are the embodiment of Colossians 3:24, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters..." Each and everyone of them hold a special place in my heart. If you need expert legal service that comes with compassion, truth, kindness, and a feeling of home, I would highly recommend this firm.

No. Horrible attorney. He will drag it out, lie and get you screwed if you're not on top of things, calling him all the time to figure out what's going on and preparing your own case Just represent yourself, you'd be better off

Joe "Jay" Johnson was my divorce attorney for over 3 years so believe me when I tell you, DON'T waste your money. You could flip over every rock and search every back ally and not find a worse attorney than Joe "Jay" Johnson. After 3.5 years of my divorce being drug out by him, losing literally everything unnecessarily, being told things were getting done in juvenile court when they were not, and after 3.5 years still aren't done, I wanted to be done with Jay worse than I wanted to be done with my ex. It was a glorious day when I new I never had to deal with this man again. If i didnt get Judge Wallace to hear the case and look past the fact that the evidence I had been turning over for 3.5 years got suppressed, that out of NINE Witnesses I submitted to be called only TWO of them even got notifications to come to court, and those two people sat there ALL day and did NOT even get called to testify by Jay, it was a circus from the start. I would have gotten nothing if not for Judge Wallace seeing past me having a horrible attorney who didnt prepare my case like he should have, who didnt stick up for me once during questioning by opposing attorney, and didnt ask half the important questions or bringing up even a portion of the horrendous things my granddaughters and I had endured at the hands of my ex, only ONE video out of 15 was submitted to the judge after I spent months retraumatizing myself over and over trying to get the videos all together for Jay, making sure that he had the evidence he needed, the day of the trial he told me most of them didn't come through, he would only end up using one. Years of me trying to be sure he had what he needed for my case. All a waste. He was cheap, all i could afford, you get what you pay for. I highly recommend finding an attorney outside of Springfield, stay away from attorneys on the square, they all talk, i dont believe there is such a thing as attorney client privilege in this town. My husband's attorney knew everything that was going on as soon as I told anything to Jay. There is no attorney-client privilege with Joe "Jay" Johnson. He flat out lied to me on numerous occasions, which is funny because I always thought your attorney was supposed to have your back. My ex was paying support just fine until Jay reworded it to make it more flexible for my ex (wasnt that nice) and now i get nothing. He will act like he has your back, like he cares, but in the end you will find out he never did. He is a mess in a trial situation and YOU better do the work and be prepared because he won't. In the most vulnerable time in someone's life, this is NOT the attorney to go with. You'd be better off saving your money and representing yourself.

If you are looking for a great attorney, look no further! Mr. Johnson, is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. He genuinely cares about his clients and will take the time to listen to all of your concerns/questions.

Steven and his paralegal Emily were great. The attention to detail and keeping me in the loop made my stressful situation with court alot less stressful. I would highly recommend hiring them!

Do NOT hire Joe/Jay Johnson. The only thing he achieved for me was wasting my time and money. He took my retainer to only write up a few sentences over an entire year. He and his Paralegal constantly told me there was nothing we could do and we just had to sit and wait; as well as telling me other cases were more of a priority than mine - that's IF I could even get someone on the phone or an email response. 90% of my calls or emails went unanswered. The only email I ever received from Joe himself was when I released him as my representation. I hired a new lawyer and got more information from her in a day than Joe gave me in a year. He made me feel hopeful and confident until I gave him money and then I was tossed aside.

Out of all the lawyers I called, Steven Duncan and Emily were the most caring, honest, and did exactly what they said they would do maybe even better. I never thought I'd need a lawyer but I sure am glad I found them when I did. Thank yall so much for giving me my perfect record back.
