My review is limited because I only consulted counsel Ross. During a very difficult time, I had a pending Texas bar grievance against a former attorney. Upon placing an inquiry with the law firm, counsel Ross returned my call and was patient and courteous to listen to my concerns. Ms. Ross was very knowledgeable about the entire Texas grievance process from classification, or screening, to appeals with the Board of Disciplinary Appeals. As a non-lawyer she was able to explain various rules of procedure that I could understand. Even though I did not retain counsel Ross, she was able to provide me with a few valuable resources to make progress on my grievance and get a better understanding of the rules of professional conduct. Absent the consult, I would not have recognized the severe deficiencies in my initial fee agreement with the lawyer I complained against. Other than bar complainants, I would recommend law students, Texas bar examinees, and those who want to learn about the Character and fitness requirements for Texas Lawyers to reach out. These stakeholders are well served with a highly knowledgeable attorney who can explain the complexities of Texas legal ethics to newcomers. Unlike smaller jurisdictions, the volume of ethics caselaw in Texas is vast, and rules such as standing, classificiation appeals have changed. Hire someone who is actively engaged in Texas legal ethics, and can make you feel comfortable even when a candid assessment of your case is less than optimal.
