Cathy Tabor was very sweet, concerned and communicative until I gave her money to handle an emergency guardianship case - then complete silence. When I reached out to her, she said that she was "working on it". However, after two months, she finally admitted in writing that she hadn't worked on the case. She asked if we could do a "reboot", but she had already misled me for two months and I simply could not wait for Ms. Tabor to get her personal affairs in order while my little sister continued to suffer in an abusive guardianship situation.
In addition to her nonperformance she gave us incorrect information about our case. She stated that our case was in Travis County when it was in Cameron County - something she would have known if she had read the the first page of the court documents. This negligent error made me question her ability to identify basic, yet important elements of the case from the start.
When I expressed my interest in moving on and not doing a "reboot", Ms. Tabor informed me that the money I gave her was "a non-refundable retainer." This was not what we agreed to verbally and we didn't have a written agreement. Though a lawyer has the duty, in all dealings and relations with a client, to act with honesty, good faith, fairness, integrity, and fidelity. I did not experience these traits with Ms. Tabor. Instead, I felt Ms. Tabor had unfairly misled me for two months, then declared a non-existent agreement between us, and finally sent me a non-itemized statement with a demand for even more money. It is my opinion that Ms. Tabor could not produce an itemized statement because she did not have proof of any phone calls or letters to show that any work was done on the case.
Further evidence of Ms. Tabor's practices is evident in her handling of our fee dispute. I went to the Austin Bar Association (ABA) for arbitration, but Ms. Tabor postponed the ABA arbitration date then stopped responding to ABA's requests to set a date more suitable to her schedule. The end result was no arbitration. ABA told me that if I wanted to continue to pursue the issue that I could file a complaint with the Texas Bar Association.

I really thought Kathy Tabor would be able to help me. She did return my call and gave me high hopes that she could help me. I provided all information she requested and went weeks without hearing from her. I felt like she was going in circles with me. She would inform me of the actions she was to take and I would wait and then silence all over again. This has been ongoing for about two months. It would of been nice and professional if she could have told me that she did not want to help me or could not help me. Tried emailing her today and Postmaster replied with invalid email address. I really hope all is well with Kathy (Catherine Tabor).

I referred someone to Chambers & Associates and they were very helpful and even managed to get a good outcome for that person however, that person went MIA. But, the staff at C&A worked really hard, were very helpful and I can honestly say I was impressed.
