Do yourself a favor and just go with a free public defender, it’s going to be the same outcome anyway, it’s up to the judge. Scott Smith knows this and exploits this. Was sitting in county jail while Scott was out on vacation skiing with my deposit, typical greedy and soulless jew!

He was not intimidated or coerced by the prosecution, held his ground when necessary and was prepared to go to trial if need be. He is compassionate, knowledgeable, experienced and tenacious. We hired Scott Smith's firm to help our son with a driving while intoxicated case. He is one of the smartest people I have ever met and picked up on lots of things other attorneys had missed. They eventually got the case dismissed after a hearing. Scott is extremely detail oriented and thorough. During criminal case, Smith said my Class B conviction could be expunged, so no worries. Then after I paid him $1200 to expunge the Class B misdemeanor, he told me legal language was not clear if I could expunge and likely I would be unsuccessful. As attorney who later researched language on qualifications to expunge, it is crystal clear that one cannot expunge a criminal conviction in Texas unless it has been pardoned/overturned. The law was clear for some time before my case. I did not pursue expunction per Smith's recommendation, but Smith still kept my money.

I am so thankful for Scott and he is worth every penny. I was falsely accused of hit and run and then arrested at my home for DWI. My previous representation was horrible and I wasted a significant amount of money and a year and a half with no progress in my case. From the time that I hired Scott in mid April 2016 to November 30, 2016, he had a deal in place to have the charges completely dismissed. What I appreciated most about Scott is that he always took the time to listen to me. He took meticulous notes and we over situations and scenarios repeatedly so that he knew exactly what happened. He also had me write up my statement so that he had things in my own words. I felt like I knew exactly what his defensive strategy would be if we had to go to trial. His staff was so professional and courteous. My previous attorney would leave me sitting in court for hours, eating up my PTO, and they would always be there expediently to speak to the judge or the prosecutor. I felt the conditions for the dismissal were more than fair. The whole time, I felt like Scott was on my side and that's how you should feel with your defense attorney. Scott has been our family's attorney for over ten years and has provided extremely professional service. Some of his legal assistants have been better than others (one guy was awful but the ones they have now are great) but Scott and his attorneys are the best in town. They are not the cheapest attorneys but he gets better results than just about anybody. Hire Scott if you want someone to fight for you and not suck up to the prosecutors.

Scott is one of the best defense lawyers in Texas. My husband was falsely accused of sexual assault and the case eventually went to trial which we won. Scott helped us through a very difficult case and was incredibly organized, thoughtful, and strategic. I hope we will never need his services again but we are pleased to recommend him to others.
