This firm is dirty. They took our money and then weeks later hadn’t even filed a notice with the court to put themselves on file as the attorney on record. They told the public defender they were taking the case over but then didn’t notify the court. The court still showed the public defender on record. Then they didn’t show up to an important hearing… and obviously the public defender didn’t show up because they told her that they were taking the case on, so no one showed up in our defense at the hearing… they completely just left us stranded and defenseless having to fend for ourself in front of a judge and make legal decisions without counsel. Our case was significantly damaged due to this law firm’s neglect. The only thing I can think is that maybe they have taken on too many clients and can’t keep things straight and forgot to take important steps like notifying the court in a timely manner or showing up for hearings. Otherwise why would they just not show up let alone notify the court that they were the attorneys in a timely manner after taking a retainer payment?? They were quick to take and process our retainer payment and delivered false hope that they would work hard to protect our case. I’m sure they will try to cover their tracks with excuses in a response to this review but just please beware of these people. I do not believe they care about their clients well being. I think they made massive mistakes with the handling of our case and instead of doing the right thing by acknowledging their mistakes and trying to take action to fix it, they chose to ignore phone calls and messages with delayed responses to avoid facing their mistakes. I do not believe they care that their actions or rather … their lack of actions effect peoples lives and futures. If you want to rest assured that your hard earned money is going to secure counsel that you can trust to work hard for you, I would suggest you look elsewhere. I just hope others don’t have to suffer the trauma this firm caused us.

I was arrested on January 25, 2019 for DWI with portions of the arrest airing on LivePD for millions of viewers a few hours later. Smith & Vinson was the fourth law firm that I hired to pursue a Jury Trial for this case, with the previous two withdrawing. Many attorneys can talk the talk but Smith & Vinson will also walk the walk. It took 1,187 days to get to a Jury Trial but I am sure glad that Brad, Jarrod and their outstanding team were by my side and exceptionally prepared. After the Jury was selected, the first witness was called to the stand and Brad and Jarrod imploded the State's case. Moments later, the case was dismissed. I couldn't be any more thankful for Smith & Vinson. Their passion for the law is unmatched. I have my life back and I owe it to them. If you need assistance, do yourself a favor and hire Smith & Vinson. Wow.

I am a police officer with 45 years experience in Florida; I have a son in Austin who got hit with a DUI probation violation warrant.
