Exceptional Work from an Excellent Attorney + Human-being At the outset I want to say this; John is a consummate gentleman, he is generous, kind, well-spoken and well-mannered with a keen sense of humour. He is extremely ethical and processes the highest of integrity. Johns command of the law was always impressive. His advice was on point, well considered and strategically thought out with his attention to detail impeccable. He was a strong advocate and negotiator for me throughout the lengthy disturbing process. I am, and always will be incredibly grateful to John. Initially John represented me as my business lawyer in a divorce litigation where he was called in to give expert advice on complex company issues that had arisen. My case was quite unique in that I am Australian and had relocated from Texas to live in Australia when John took on my case. I knew the complexity our times difference with coordinating calls would be a challenge. Well, I was simply astonished. John went out of his way to ensure that our calls were convenient for both of us. Many times, he stayed late or arrived at work early (more than usual) to be sure we had adequate time available. Johns well-developed relationships among his peers and colleagues ensured that I received a district court judge and a schedule that worked best with my time zone. His representation went above and beyond, culminating in a solid and satisfying conclusion. I received the best deal possible out of a terrible situation. Unparalleled Work Product and Diligence To whom it may concern: John Jacks represented my wife and I in a lawsuit against our builder. I’ve had many dealings with other attorneys and other firms through the years both in a personal and in a professional capacity. I can’t say enough kind words about John nor can I proclaim enough accolades regarding his services. Instead, here are the material facts that I think most appropriately differentiate John from other attorneys: 1. Responsiveness and Customer Service: Rarely did my phone calls (which often occurred daily) go to voicemail and when they did, he almost always called me back before he left for the day. For me this is very important because in my dealings with other attorneys, I’ve always been made to feel like my business wasn’t appreciated and that my calls were unimportant. It’s the complete antithesis with John, and I’m grateful for this. 2. Practicality. John guided us through the process, always with any eye toward the “end game.” Where I might have wanted to pursue a different course, he helped me consider the cost-benefit of the course and adjust our strategy accordingly. To this end he would often consider my ideas for strategy and was never arrogant or dismissive. He was always resourceful, never hesitating to get 2nd and even 3rd opinions from within or outside his firm, hence, he was also seeking out the best strategy. 3. Aggressiveness. Our builder like many others was as slick as they come, a true deviant with a sophisticated criminal mind. John recognized this early on when problems began to arise. Fortunately for us he had the foresight to pen agreements with the builder so that if anything went awry, as they did, the builder would be personally liable, negating any protections that would have otherwise been afforded to him through his sham construction company. John is a nice guy, soft spoken, personable and kind but don’t let his pleasant demeanor fool you. When it comes time to contest something—in our case, arbitration—John is as tough as they come. In our case, John sought and obtained an arbitration award that included findings for fraud, deceptive trade practices, and several other causes of action, with an award of punitive damages, as well all attorney fees. 4. Preparedness. John brought in expert witnesses and compiled evidence binders over 200 pages thick. I was frankly in awe. During the arbitration hearing, the builder was lying and contradicting the testimony he gave in his deposition. I exaggerate not in pointing out that John called this builder out on every instance, always prefaced with “let’s go back to you deposition, page …”. John ran circles around this conman and when doing so, only then did I realize how John had anticipated his responses, evidenced by the very questions he had previously asked during the deposition. It’s no exaggeration when I say that during the arbitration, John already new exactly where to turn to in the transcripts! 5. Reputation. While I have only my experience to go on, it appeared to me that John is well respected by his colleagues in the legal profession, including judges, mediators, arbitrators, and opposing counsel. John was courteous and respectful throughout, and his professional colleagues were respectful and courteous in return and treated him as the honest and ethical attorney he is.

I can't say enough amazing things about Patricia Dixon and Ryan Doughay! Best family law team in Austin! They've represented me and my children for the past few years and have gotten us through some really tough and scary times. I honestly do not know what I would have done without them. I don't even know where to start I have so much good to say about my experience working with Grant. I was originally divorced in 2014 and have had 11 legal proceedings since the divorce. Attack after attack after attack from my ex. She had unlimited resources through her mom and used financial extortion tactics by hiring attorneys that could stage a better "performance" in court than the ones I had hired. Facts be damned I was punished over and over. It was disheartening because my kids were affected by all of this insanity and eventually pulled away from her and lived with me full time. They were 14 when this first started happening, and despite me having these kids full time she continued to attack me legally asserting that I had poisoned their relationship with her and alienated them from her. She knew because of the financial destruction she had caused me that I did not have the resources she did and wielded that as a weapon again and again. When I finally had an option to fight back I was referred to Grant by a friend. HE WAS SUCH A BREATH OF FRESH AIR from the other attorneys I had worked with. It is obvious he loves what he does, he is enthusiastic, he genuinely cares about his clients, and he is a BULLDOG in the courtroom! A respectful but firm and incredibly detail oriented cross-examination of my ex completely unraveled her and created the opening I needed to get a Motion To Confer allowed by the judge for my kids. Grant, unlike the other attorneys I had in the past, fully embraced this option and pushed for it hard. The judge allowed the kids to visit privately with him, and after more than an hour with each kid exactly what I had wished for years happened. I was vindicated and the judge shut down every angle that my ex was using to come after me yet again a full 4 years after our divorce. Grant helped me believe in the judicial system again. He also helped me believe that the right thing will eventually prevail if you have GOOD REPRESENTATION! Do not make the mistake of thinking that all attorneys are created equal. Grant was the perfect fit for my case. He is young and energetic and gave my case a massive shot in the arm. He has a team of other seasoned attorneys in his firm that worked together on my case, and his enthusiasm was the secret weapon. It was such an amazing experience having him represent me and my kids.
