I am grateful that I came across Bertolino Law while doing my online search for legal representation. Doing your job and role to the outmost of your ability and in good conscience does not guarantee that you will not get in trouble especially when you give your trust to the wrong people. I was in a situation wherein I was accused of something and I was not given the right venue to explain myself nor received the proper investigation as it was the "discretion of the management". And I ended up having to answer to the board due to a complaint filed against me. Troy and MJ worked with me as I dealt with this situation. From day one up to this day, I could feel their enthusiasm in getting me through a very difficult time. They listened and get an understanding of what happened to come up with the best defense. They take their time in piecing together a strong defense just to have a better chance even if the truth is too obvious just because you never know how the investigation could go. They presented my defense eloquently the way I directed it during the IS. Their service is not cheap but you really get what you pay for. It's definitely a scary thing when the risk of losing your license is at stake. I didn't hesitate for one minute to hire the amazing team at Bertolino Law Firm. I didn't have to deal with talking with the board about my case, they did all the communicatng for me. I was able to continue to live my life, and it definitely made the situation a lot less stressful. I knew I was in good hands from day one. Don't ever take a risk with your license, hire Bertolino Law Firm. You will not regret it.

My case was very straightforward and information given to the attorney to close my case was as such as well but the retainer was for if it had to go to litigation, per my understanding from the first meeting with the attorney, it didn’t but somehow the funds were spent. I stated early on that I was not working and funds were low to reiterate bare minimum should be done due to I knew I was innocent and obtaining affidavits stating such could be provided. It’s unfortunate that BCBAs in Texas are not protected and false claims can be taken against you and cost you at least a month’s pay to clear your name when there are very few law offices that can handle your case in the state. I was lead to believe this law firm knew about my field but billing showed otherwise. I would recommend each BCBA to save all of you documentation and correspondence with a company you are working for because it will cost you in the long run either in fines from the state or attorneys that will eat up every penny of the retainer you had to place down talking to each other, doing a “discovery” on a field they advise they are familiar with, or charging you to meet with them at the end to promote themselves. While I am happy that my individual case was closed I was not happy with the amount of money spent or effort especially when most of my charges weren’t in litigation or speaking with the state to resolve the issues but the law firm themselves “meeting.” My proactive approach is what finally got my case settled due to the bills I received stating “discussion of my case,” as billable hours, when my case’s solution were affidavits, which they didn’t seek out but I did myself, but somehow I was charged for their conversations. The main person they needed to reach out to wasn’t even contacted until after I had to be charged to tell them to do so. There was no resolution or effort to resolve the case by actively obtaining needed affidavits to clear my name, but they spoke about it so I guess that counts? I pray the laws in Texas change to protect my fellow BCBAs and clients because our field is full of shady company owners and sadly the State doesn’t care if you respond back with truth they want to inflict pain on those doing good and protect those who with the submission to defame your professional well being. Stay strong out there in the Lone Star State.
