Pros
1
Excellent communication and responsiveness from the legal team
“The best thing about this firm is that they are excellent communicators. My particular attorney, Ben, was wonderful compared to past experiences. He kept me informed and returned phone calls promptly.”
2
Knowledgeable and professional staff who provide personalized service
“Mr. Hargrave and his staff are TOP NOTCH! Without the guidance of this law firm, I would not have been able to better the life of my child and myself. I would refer him to anyone seeking legal advice. Everyone in his office is knowledgeable, friendly and prompt.”
3
Successful case outcomes and client satisfaction
“This law firm took our case that many law firms told us we already lost! Ben has been an absolute amazing person representing us and helped win our case! I would highly recommend!”
4
Reasonable and transparent pricing
“Mr. Hargrave and whole staff is very friendly and professional. His pricing is reasonably as well.”
5
Caring and supportive approach to clients
“Hargrave team makes you feel like part of their family. The advice given to me was to my benefit and I will always come to them first if I have legal needs.”
Cons
1
Inconsistent quality of service and communication
“Horrible correspondence with a miserable troll with disgusting phone etiquette named Aleisha Sanders. She calls herself the office manager but relays her thoughts to the attorney so he listens to the one sided version of an ***.”
2
Failure to effectively handle cases and achieve desired outcomes
“I would not recommend this firm at all. They did not do anything to help my situation. They were ill equipped to handle the simplest issues such as filing motions and guiding me on my best course of action. They allowed the other attorney to walk all over them in court, as well as, drag out the case/proceedings. Overall, costing me thousands of dollars. Pure embarrassment!”

After 4 1/2 years of trying to get child support enforced, I finally decided to hire an attorney. From the first time that I spoke with Mr. Hargrave on the phone I knew that I was in good hands. I was impressed by the fact that he was not only well versed in family law, but also in disability law, which is important to me considering that one of my children is part of the disability community. Mr. Hargrave and his staff was incredibly thorough and ensured that they had every bit of information needed to appear in court to represent my children and myself. The law office stayed in constant contact with me and kept me updated with any new information that came in. I highly recommend the Law Office of Earl Hargrave and will always feel incredibly grateful to him, Megan Flores and all of his staff.

Don't be fooled by this rating. They have another listing and a 3.6 rating. Read the reviews on that one. I wish I had before I hired him. After the consultation I was assigned an associate attorney who then left the practice, which I was never informed of. I then only went through the paralegal about me case until right before a custody hearing. The day prior was the only other time after the consult I spoke with him. I spent the entire time rehashing everything we went over in the initial consult. We showed up for the hearing and he tried to negotiate a deal without taking my needs into consideration and saying I should take a deal that didn't work for me. He didn't prepare me AT ALL for the hearing. My wife and her lawyer had questions and answers rehearsed, while we never discussed anything he would go over. The hearing went very poorly, and afterwards he called me a "terrible" client and withdrew from my case. After taking several thousands of dollars from me, and literally spending a couple hours in total on my case he QUIT on me. Now I'm in a worse position and out of a ton of cash. DO NOT waste your money and time. Do a better job of researching before hiring. I was in a panic and jumped at the first call back I got, and it was a huge mistake.

I would like to recognize the efforts of winning my eviction case to Mr, Behrooz. He was faced with a tough eviction case for one of my tenants or called professional tenants. I contacted his firm where he was highly recommended by a large Real Estate Brokerage form in North Texas. Is very frustrating to deal with legal problems when you don't have either the knowledge nor the legal representation. From day one his firm gave me a good explanation of what to expect from this case "chapter 13" my expectations were set from day one. His staff from answering the phone to give me constant updates was very efficient and even sometimes I tent to be very concern on my case, they gave me the confidence that it was on good hands from beginning to end. Sometimes I requested to speak directly with Mr Behrooz aand aside from answering all my questions and giving me information on my case he is very polite, calm and understanding of my frustration. He has a great sense of customer service and even we carried a great conversation aside from the case. I definitely would recommend him to be a trusted attorney to help you with your legal concerns he really cares about the client. I wish we could have more Attorneys like him from my family and me my most sincere appreciation for your great service and for assisting me in resolving this eviction problem that was lingering on my head for a few months. I wish you the best and nothing but the best experience from your firm. I cannot be grateful enough, thanks. Jerry M

Very knowledgeable attorney. He beat out a team of attorneys from a much more expensive firm. He was more fair in his billing practices than other attorneys I have used.

Mr. Cleveland is very knowledgeable and compassionate. He takes time to talk, and he doesn't hold back. As an ex-police officer, he sees both sides and I highly recommend his services.

I was satisfied in the end with how my lawyer and his team worked with me with genuine care and not just an obligation. I know things were delayed for EVERYONE due to our global pandemic but even with this in place I was patient as were they. And I suggest and trust Attorney Walt, and you’ll be in good hands!

Walt is straightforward, honest and goes the extra mile to help his clients. He was able to recommend a specialized probation program for my felony DWI that I recently completed and it was truly a lifesaver.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bedford, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
