My experience with this firm was absolutely incredible. This law firm helped our family in our great time of need and helped us to be treated fairly in our case. I would give ten stars if I could and I highly recommend their services! Not only were we treated with respect, but we were also treated as a friend and felt our case was a top concern the entire time! Thank you so much Brian Hargrove law for all you have done for our family!

Giving Chandler 5stars he’s amazing! But his paralegal Addi I’m afraid is not she is very rude and disrespectful. She tells me not to listen to my Supportive family and my friends. my case Is very sensitive. Chandler has been very nice and very helpful even though he very busy.. but Addi every time I talk to her and ask why I don’t have a court order drawn up for my court Hearing. It was in April months ago it just doesn’t make sense why nothing has drawn up yet. My family and friends tell me that does not make sense to keep asking Addi or Eli to get me the court order so I can get visitation with my daughter. My ex pretty much took her at birth after I had her and has not been letting me see her. I feel Let down by addi and I hope Chandler Can see through her and find a new paralegal. Eli his other paralegal is very nice. Haven’t had a problem with her yet. And Chandler is a great attorney he’s helping me with two Very sensitive cases. I’m frustrated that I don’t have my court order drawn up and I can’t see my baby She’s only three years old.

Mr. Hargrove and his team were very helpful from day one!! In the beginning this process was so overwhelming I didn’t know what to do or who to call. After getting in contact with Mr.Hargrove he assured me to sit back relax and allow him and his team to work their magic. And they did just that! This process was smooth and simple thanks to Mr. Hargrove! 10/10 would recommend!

As a Mother seeing my youngest Son go through a situation involving the court system is painful to say the least, especially knowing there's not much I can do for my Son, other than be there for him and giving him moral support. Being there watching first hand throughout all his court appearances can be a bit overwhelming, especially when a mother can't really do much but pray and offer my son moral support. I was a bit skeptical when my son was given a court appointed attorney because of what people had said about them. First all, Mr. Lowe, when I first met him, I had doubt in the process he showed me I was wrong he really was working on my son's case for several court times they tried to offer my son 8 years but today it was a different outcome and Mr Lowe came back with good news got my son misdemeanor time serve. Thank you, Mr Lowe. I highly recommend it him great lawyer to trust for any case. Thank you, Mr Lowe, again. may the Lord bless you.

Let me start off by saying, I don't trust any Attorney, let alone a "court appointed attorney" (talking from previous experiences) I've been through the system on several occasions, spoke to several different attorneys throughout my ordeal, and alot of Attorneys just don't work as hard as you would want them to, especially when your livelihood is on the line. When I met Mr. LOWE, in regards to my Brother's case, I was a bit hesitant to think he was going work hard for my brother's case, especially knowing he was a COURT APPOINTED ATTORNEY! Anyone who has previous knowledge of this knows what I'm talking about. When my Brother and I spoke to him the state offered my brother 8 years TDC and they didn't want to budge from that, At first I felt AT THAT time, Mr LOWE, just wasn't fighting hard enough, AGAIN, Because of MY previous experience with past Attorney's, alot of them just don't want to work and expect clients to except whatever is thrown at them, Then, I saw something in MR LOWE, that can't be described, He went back in the court room FOUGHT hard for my brother, NOT to say he wasn't fighting hard for him from the start, just something about what he GENUINELY did for my Brother Made me Look at him with alot of RESPECT, MR LOWE came back with a time served outcome!!! HE'S a PHENOMENAL lawyer, I just didn't give him time and assumed he was like most Attorney's. So I would GENUINELY recommend him if you're uncertain of a good Attorney to chose, I would HIGHLY recommend HIM!

Very knowledgeable attorney. He beat out a team of attorneys from a much more expensive firm. He was more fair in his billing practices than other attorneys I have used.

Mr. Smotherman helped me get permanent and full custody of my daughter and I will forever be grateful. Words cannot express how thankful I am to this man and his God given abilities but I will try. As an African-American male trying to get custody of my then 4 year old daughter, the odds were stacked against me. However, Smotherman took the time to listen were others just blew me off. He was able to build and executed one of the best defenses I have ever seen. The case centered around the facts that the mother was actively alienating me from my daughter's life by hiding her from me during my visitations weekends. Every 1st, 3rd and 5th weekend I would drive form Odessa, TX to Dallas, TX, a 6 hour drive one way, just to see my daughter. I had never missed a visitation or a child support payment. The mother was even harassing the schools to keep me from seeing my daughter at lunch time. The mother even had me removed from being able to see her at her after school daycare were I was tutoring my daughter and helping her with school work. The mother also created false allegations that my wife and I were physically and sexually abusive to my daughter and all these allegation where proven false. The mother was later convicted of felony custodial interference. Throughout the entire two year process (the Judge dying in the case, several reset dates and having to deal with a defense attorney that would do anything to win and in my opinion no professional at times) Smotherman never lost his composure and remained a man of integrity even when faced with shady dealings from the defense. He remained true to his Christian identity....He was fair and timely with his responses...and always professional. Mr. Smotherman is the type of person who has a passion for justice and helping others. This case had so many sides and it was so deep (before Smotherman the case had already taken a year) that literally no other attorney would take my case. I prayed for someone to help me and spent my days calling and writing attorneys only to receive countless "No"s. However, Mr. Smotherman said, "Yes" and that has made all the difference. I cannot say thank you enough. Today, marks the day the child custody case is officially closed and the final orders have been signed. This man has given me my life back and a chance to be a full-time father to my daughter something I did not have the privilege of having. I always promised myself that when I had kids, I would not be like my dad, an absentee father, I was going to be there for my kids and now I can keep that promise to my daughter and myself.

Julie his office manager is A#1 and will also make you feel at home. He will be honest with you and If another Attorney would best represent you, he is not afraid to tell you.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bedford, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
