Josh and his staff were very knowledgeable in helping me deal with a theft from a dishonest employee. They made an uncomfortable situation less stressful knowing it was in the hands of professionals.

I am a local business owner, and I have used Mr. Pearson's services on many occasions. He has represented my family, business, and I, and in every case or dispute we have come out on top. I can not say enough great things about Josh, as a professional and as a community citizen. Do not hesitate to give him a call. You will feel confident and relaxed after your first conversation with him.

You hope to never need an attorney, but circumstances may present themselves that require legal assistance. I requested Mr. Pearson's services a little over year ago concerning a termination of parental right and stepparent adoption. I had been to court twice prior and had spent over $7500. The first time I ran out of money without a resolution, the second I spent $2500 for one phone call and an attorney that did not come to court. I was very unsatisfied with my prior experiences and nervous about taking this on, but for the well being of my child, my husband and I did. From the moment I interacted with this firm I was amazed and it stayed that way. I requested and received an appointment within two days through this website. The office is easy to locate and very comfortable. Josh spent over an hour with my husband and I. He was an astute listener, we were not rushed, and afterwards I was calm. We left that day knowing that nothing was guaranteed, that the road was long, but that there was hope. We had not had that for a long time. If you sit down with Mr. Pearson you can be rest assured he will deliver an honest interpretation of the situation as you present it and that he will exceed your expectations. The termination took the longest and due to the increase in business over the year I was represented in court by Mr. Pearson, Mr. Miller, and Irena (a newly hired attorney). Everyone was well prepared and even though they were not all with us from the beginning, each attorney was knowledgeable about the case. I would recommend any of the three. I would also like to mention that most of my correspondence through email and even the phone was through a paralegal, Mandy, who was immediate in answering calls and email. She contacted me a number of times throughout the case to make sure I was getting what I needed. For instance, in the beginning we were asked whether we desired a name change. At the time my child did not want this. We were asked again when the termination was completed and again said no. The day the adoption files were to be submitted she asked again and again I said no. This time my child changed mind and I had to ask if she could change the forms that were already filled out. It was done without a problem even though we had been asked three times. This is the kind of personal attention the entire firm gives out. The retainer was reasonable, covered the entire year, and we received a substantial refund. Overall this firm goes above and beyond any expectation I could have.

I've dealt with a few attorneys within Bell County over the past few years, and my experiences have not been the greatest. I learned the hard way that cheaper isn't always better (especially when you need a good attorney). I contacted Mr. Pearson about my child custody/visitation issue and he explained all of my options. He was also familiar with the judge, so he gave me his opinion on what his decision might be. He is very patient, knowledgeable, and pays attention to detail. The way he dissected the other party's false accusations at our hearing was a work of art. I thought things like that only occurred on TV :). I suggest anyone looking for an attorney in his area call his office before you retain another attorney.

I often hear about negative stories when dealing with some Attorneys and very rare do we take the time to recommend those who are passionate about their craft and exceed expectations. Attorney Steven Fuller is a true example of an Attorney who exceeded my expectations. He is undoubtedly one of the very few passionate, professional and hardworking attorney in the law practice. He candidly and honestly reviewed my case thoroughly with me, while simulaneously applying Texas State Law to my case. Prior to my case he personally responded to my email and my concerns. While at the County Court he promptly called me from his personal cell to ensure that I agreed with the Judge's decision or if necessary appeal the results of the court findings. It was so refreshing to know that he truly represented someone who was hurting and had gave up on the legal system. He got my Child Support payments reduced and negotiated or agreed to the fact that I should not pay any arrears in Child Support. If anyone have had a bad experience with others in this craft please do not hesitate to call Attorney Stephen Fuller of Miller and Pearson Law Firm. He's not only a world class professional attorney, he is also an active member of our military forces/veteran and truly understands our military and their rights. Bottom line is that if you need an Attorney for Child Support or any other military Matters, please do not hesitate to contact Attorney Stephen Fuller at Miller and Pearson law firm. I would also remiss if I did not tell you that I had initially searched for other attorneys in the area to include using my Legal Shield membership. None of them came close to meeting my financial needs or cost effeciency like Miller and Pearson's law firm. The response I got were very high and all driven by an inital consultation or an office visit. Miller and Pearson Law firm attorneys will talk to you, get the facts and then tell you if they can handle your case without charging you and getting a negative or unfavorable answer. They work together and care just as exemplified by Attorney Fuller and Attorney Streltsov. Incredibly amazing team and awesome job!

Steve is a very intelligent, sharp, quick witted, compassionate attorney. We worked with Steve for something that wasn't exactly in his usual realm of law but fit the best with him because of his knowledge of both criminal and medical law. We had a lot of questions and he did a thorough job of answering each one. He explained how case law and criminal law related to us and what we could expect. He did a very good job of ensuring we fully understood everything and I felt confident in the knowledge I gained from him. I truly hope we don't need his representation in court, but if we do I feel assured he would apply himself fully to getting the desired outcome.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Belton, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
