First things first I’d like to thank Mr. De leon and his amazing team.. I was sitting in Cameron county jail, when he was appointed to me, I was a little concerned about having a court appointed lawyer for such a high profile case. I was Charged with aggravated robbery, manufacture/ delivery and engaging in organized criminal activity, all first degree felonies.. I was facing anywhere from 5-99 years in prison.. while incarcerated Mr. De leon was able to get my organized crime charge dropped, which led to a bond reduction. I got out on bond and have been dealing with court since..I had it in my head that was going to prison but Mr.De leon went to war with me during court and did what he could to get me the probation I wanted. I highly recommend Mr. De Leon and his team.

This is the first time I have ever been arrested or have been in any serious legal issue. My life was turned upside down in the blink of an eye. I met Mr. Cesar De Leon, as I was receiving my property back from carrizales, he was personally dropping off paperwork for a bond for one of his clients. I asked him if he knew of any good lawyers, and he smiled and said, "I am a lawyer." Mr. De Leon took the time right then and there to speak to me. Mr. De Leon and his legal team are amazing, always keeping me up to date. Lorena was always very helpful and patient. She always listened to my concerns and always answered my questions. Mr. De Leon was able to get my case dismissed, and I did not have to step foot in a courtroom. I truly believe Mr. De Leon went above and beyond on my case. I am super grateful for all of his hard work and that we crossed paths. Mr. De Leon and his team treated me like family. I am super grateful for everything they did for me. I would give them 100 Stars if I could. I highly recommend him if you ever find yourself in any legal trouble.

Got me out of county when I thought I was gonna stay there since there wasn't a court date and I was in there for over 3 months for a misdemeanor. Got my time served and I was glad with the results. We got one more case to go tho . I'll update it later So update , he went throughly on the paper work and knew more about the case than I did. They assigned us the court date 2 days after he just finished He proceeded with dropping the felony to a misdemeanor. He really went above and beyond what any other lawyer would do tbh . I really thank mr.leon for the time he put , the attention and wisdom he brought to the table because without his help I would prob be locked up right now . If you want a lawyer who'll put the time to understand and execute a plan of action that benefits you , Mr. Leon is your man . Thank you sir for all the help and opportunities you've opened up for me sir.

Very outstanding lawyer. Highly professional, I would deffinately recommend Mr. Zavaletta to anyone. In his office you are treated like a member of his family, I always feel very comfortable there. Being that he is very busy, he always takes his time to talk to you about your case. I feel very fortunate to have him as my attorney, and as my friend. He always kept me informed about my case, very knowledgeable. The state of Texas is honored to have a Lawyer like Peter Michael Zavaletta. May God Bless him always.

I recently was represented by Mr Garcia, for a felony charge. After contacting Mr Garcia he fully explained the statutes and potential consequences of the charge. Mr Garcia vigorously defended my freedom in this life changing case which was ultimately dismissed. I 100% would recommend representation from his firm to anyone looking for legal services.

Excellent, Excellent and did I say Excellent attorney!!! Mr. Garcia had two of my felonies (I was wrongly accused of commiting) dropped down to misdemeanors! He is extremely professional and will not quit until true justice prevails and of course you come out on top!!! Thank you once again Salvador Garcia although I hope and pray I never require these services again if I ever do you will be the first and last I contact!!! I highly recommend him to anyone if you're looking to actually win your case and not just plead out like most attorneys do these days.

I met Mr. Ysasaga at a car dealership and found his wallet. I cleaned cars there. When I returned it to him, Michael gave me his business card and told me to call him if I ever needed anything. I was arrested for something I didn't do and Michael helped me for free in the criminal case for over a year and 10 months. He wouldn't let me take a plea deal from the DA because I was innocent and he said he'd help me no matter how long it took. I was really worried and sick over this deal. But Michael told me to keep the faith. The DA finally dropped all charged after almost 2 year. I am really grateful forever for Mr. Ysasaga's help. May God Bless him. Michael Eugene Johnson

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Brownsville, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
