Theresa was appointed as court appointed lawyer for my son. I understand we are not paying for services, but why take a court appointed case if you really don't want to do the job. I also understand that these lawyers can not care so passionately about every one. But when I said she did nothing for my son, I do mean NOTHING!! I and my family members called her on numerous occasions to check what was going on with my son's case. The first time she had no idea who he was she didn't even know she was assigned to him. She couldn't even find his case. Second she told us 3 times on 3 different occasions that she was going to set up a phone/ person visit with my son to discuss the case. All 3 times something couldn't even explain what happened but she was not able to see him. On his court date, she didn't even show up. This is after she told us she would be there. We waited and waited and nothing. Then 3 days before his next court date, we called to see about court. To our surprise she says they took me off the case, and that's it. I would not recommend her, unless you are paying for her services. Even at that I wish you luck because she doesn't seem to care. If your loved one is appointed Ms. Teresa Vasquez I would highly recommend trying to get her changed or they might have to be incarcerated longer. I was very disappointed not because my son was in jail, but because when I spoke to her she wanted to sound like she would be on top of the situation. Like she had a plan like she understood. Everything she told us, she did not follow through with NOTHING!! NOT EVEN A SIMPLE PHONE CALL. I also understand that there are not a lot of people who show support when a family member is in jail, so I believe that the very last thing these inmates need is false hopes or information. I know they are not paying for your services but you are still getting paid!! She talks a good talk with NO follow through. Sad how they also take advantage of the system. We should also be able to leave reviews!!

I am fortunate to have hired Ms. Max-Vasquez to represent me in a difficult and complex eviction case with numerous extraneous circumstances. Ms. Max-Vasquez worked diligently throughout my case from the very beginning all the way through to the end, with the eviction being successfully granted. She not only has a great deal of personal integrity; she also clearly cares about her clients. Ms. Max-Vasquez championed my case and achieved a winning verdict, and I would not hesitate to hire her again.

When I was about to lose my home, I searched for many lawyers. Unfortunately, all of their prices were skyrocketing, and some lawyers did not seem honest or seem they look for their own benefit. I felt like a pray for them. Then, I met one of the Best Lawyers in the Valley (So many people claimed, so I thought if he is that awesome maybe he will help me out. So, I called him and explained that I was about to lose my house. (I have to say, I was in a financial mess, I was losing my home, In order to keep up I sold my car , they gave me a lot, a lot less than the car was worth , my son had just gotten out of the hospital, did not have food, and my electricity and water were about to be disconnected, plus we were short on clothing supplies ) and over the phone he told me, "Sorry, I can't help you, I only help corporations" . I though "WTH" , where is kindness is there any kind to the poor. At least to give you reasonable prices or maybe a probono help ! But no this "Awesome Lawyer, just could not help the needy" , Some other layers required a Huge Down Payment, and I Just did not had the money. I am a widow and I my budged was super tight. So, a couple days I got the Yellow Book and one day I called to his office and he set up and Interview. I did not want to go cause it was far, but I went.At the beginning I was skeptic, because he looks like a million bucks, the office is small but cozy ,have to say, but minutes later I found not lawyer, but a very honest, and kind man. Right away he told me how much he charged me, the price was reasonable. He showed me that he cared of not only for my case, but also about me as human being. The coolest thing is when I went to court, he really cared of people. I met many other guys in my situation, younger people, older people, with worst cases than mine and we all found that that he meant to help people in need and their finances. , The best thing is that he explained me all about bankruptcy and told me to trust him. Nowadays its just hard to trust no one, but I trusted Him. That Happened 3 years ago and I am about to finish paying my debts ( $40,000.00 plus) .Trusting him was hard at first, but I once I trusted him, my financial life was easier. There were times when I received letters to dismiss my case ,and I panicked (have to admit) so I will call him and ask them and they told me "don't worry everything is going to be fine, this is a legal process". There were times where I felt I could not make it with the payments so I visited him, he gave me solutions, but he always told me "Stick to the plan". Still, he tried to showed me what he could do for me. He showed me many things that he could do, but I trusted him, then I learned faith. I stick to the plan. So now, I am happy that I met Mr. Abelardo Limon, and I got to say He is some one you have to trust. Hope fully, this review will help you, cause sure it help me and my son. Because of him, we still live in the same home. My recommendations to you, are First Seek God, accept Jesus Christ In your heart, like I did , then follow Mr. Limon recommendations and you will be fine. If your case is that bad and if he can not help you I am pretty sure he will direct you with the right person. If I will face the same situation I will not doubt to seek his counsel. God Bless you and awesome DAY! :)

Mr. Trioni has defended me in his best ability with my case. I am amazed how the outcome of the case is turning out. I honestly thought Id get poor service since he wasn't a hired attorney but he has shown that not only does he do his job but cares for his client. I can honestly say he did not fail me but only give me an answer to every question I came across. I strongly believe that a person with Trioni as their attorney are in great hands. I'm more than thankful that I had my case dropped to a lower offense if it wasn't for him.

I highly recommend Mr. Anthony P. Troiani to anyone who needs legal advice. I can honestly say I trust him and felt throughout the long process, he truly cared for my case as if it were his own.I was charged and jailed, alleged DWI. Shortly thereafter made my phone call and phoned a friend who left a message after hours with Mr. Troiani' s office. Mr Troiani contacted the jail personnel, exchanged information with authorities and a left message for myself all before 8:00 a.m. This city was not home for Mr. Troiani or myself. He continued to gather information from the DA, multiple expert witnesses’ documents, made multiple court dates requiring plane travel. He communicated well and established rapport with prosecutors, as if they were his home town friends and resolved the case without my receiving a trial, DWI conviction, probation, community service, and only a $100.00 fine and minimal court costs. I feel confident that this fine would have been avoided had I risked a jury trial and spent several more months waiting on a trial.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Brownsville, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
