I had an extremely horrible experience with this Law Firm a few minutes ago. I would like to share this with you because I feel it is important for people to make a decision with information.
The first step in retaining legal representation is to establish a relationship. It is unreasonable to expect any client to blindly pay for representation without having personal interaction that determines if a lawyer has the correct set of values.
Keeping this in mind, I called the Foreman Family Law Firm and asked for an initial meeting with the lawyer. I made it extremely clear I was not seeking legal advice. I need to see if this lawyer would adequately represent my interests and ensure that the lawyer would equally covet me as a client.
The clerk that answer, by all indications a young man,
proceeded to tell me that a discussion would cost $250 per hour. Now I understand legal fees, that number didn't phase me, but what did strike me as peculiar and inappropriate was the need to throw this number out and indicate that it was for the opportunity just to have and introduction to the lawyer.
So I said hold on, I'm just trying to establish a relationship and discover the efficacy of this firm as my representation.
The response: "We are probably not the law firm for you." Then they hung up on me.
Above and beyond the obvious rude treatment by a clerk, a receptionist answering the phone who is an initial representative of the company, one can infer several things from this conversation.
The first is that this person was clearly trained to "Filter out the po' folks." Probably they were told that if anybody balks about consultation fees, immediately dismissed them. At the very least, this was a poorly trained and/or ill equipped person that couldn't handle simple discourse involving a contradictory inquiry about the firm's policy. More than likely, however, this is truly an indication of the firm's values and ethics.
The second thing that can be gleaned from this short amount of interaction is the willingness of the legal team to direct to their employees to treat people in a rude and disrespectful manner. Regardless of my (or any other client's) financial wherewithal, I wouldn't want somebody with those kinds of scruples representing me.
Often times I read reviews on here where probably the person is not conveying information that is relevant to the situation, probably omitting information that might cast themselves in a poor light. That's not the case here. (I hope, three sides to every story and all...) I work as an expert witness with several law firms, I know what to expect from both sides of the client-attorney relationship. I hope my explanation of this interaction helps you in your decision-making as you find appropriate people to represent you.

Robertson Neal made a difficult situation much easier than I expected. He was strong and understanding. My previous lawyer was weak! Did not fight for me. Was not clear about instructions and legal advice! He stole my money. Robertson was exactly the opposite! He is a man of his word. A man of character. Discrete, professional and gets results!!!

Mr. Neal is an extraordinary person and his knowledge of the law is impeccable. He is very kind and answered all of my questions. He went above and beyond and helped steer me in the right direction so that I could file my own paperwork and saved me some money; and that gave me the confidence in needed to proceed in my goals!

My son was arrested at A&M on 3 different charges and had never been in any trouble before. I got a call at 2am to bail him out of jail, and was told to find a lawyer ASAP. I called Jay on a Sunday, thinking I would just get an answering service and he would call me back during normal business hours. He called me back that Sunday while he was having lunch with his wife to help me and assure me that it would be ok. The prosecutor kept pushing back our case so it took 2.5 years to get a court date. Jay stuck with us the entire time. He answered every email and every phone call and kept working on my son's case the entire time. When he tells you it's better to wait, listen to him. He knows what he's doing. We were able to avoid a trial and have my son's records expunged and he now has nothing stopping him from living a normal life without a record to remind of mistakes he made while he was a kid. I would recommend Jay for any case.
