Was referred to James Minerve by another attorney. James Minerve promised to submit TRO to stop auction. One day before auction he tells me the foreclosing attorney is playing hard ball and he’s never experienced anything like this. He forgets the address we’re working on. He falsely claims to inform me critical information. I’ve paid and in the same position before I contacted him. Lost a property dealing with this man.

He sat there and told us that he would stop the foreclosure took our money delayed it for up to a year. Much to are surprise we got paperwork from the lawyers from our mortgage company stating that they were going to auction our house a week later. Called him, asked what was going on. He told us that he call us in little bit. Three days later he calls us that is going to do a tro, finally calls us on Friday admitting that he could not help us. He was sorry he submitted the loan a week late the tro and the paper work where rejected. That I would have to get a bankruptcy lawyers pay them in order to stop the auction. We lost close to 5000 for his services only to be in a worse position then previously. No stars do not hire him he should be disbarred from practicing law.

My family is grateful to James Minerve for successfully reversing the foreclosure on our home. We had tried for many years to negotiate with the bank and got the run around. Before finding Mr. Minerve, we had also spent well over $10,000 in attorneys fees only to be dropped before trial. He reviewed the documents, set a reasonable rate, and very quickly found the solution to our problem. I believe he took the time to really listen to us and worked diligently with the other attorneys. He is an amazing lawyer and I would highly recommend him.

He is not what he says he is. Before I hired him he said that he could overturn my foreclosure. To make a long story short, he's not what he says he is . he can't overturn anything. All he does is prolongs things just to stay in the home longer.Do not hire this man he can not do what he says he can do. I am reporting he to the attorney general.

Storm is great he has became a friend not just an attorney to me. He has went above and beyond for me and max to make sure that we get max back home. When something needs to be done he doesn’t wait he makes sure whatever the issue is gets knocked out immediately. He is very professional words can’t even express how much I appreciate him. Your law firm was the only one who believed in my dream to get my son back. Everyone else treats me like a joke and Storm became passionate about me and my son pretty much right away which means the world to me. Thank you for everything.

Best lawyers recommended for dads! They took on 2 cases; we have won the first one which took me off child support because we found out one of the children wasn't biologically mine. Now I am fighting for custody of my little girl, which I have almost full custody of! Thank Y'all!!! Whitney/Angie/Jazmin

I cannot recommend Angie and Whitney enough. Some of the scariest times of my life have been had in front of these two women, and they brought a sense of calm and assurance with their extensive knowledge and friendly yet firm demeanors, that let me know I was not alone, and had someone fierce in my corner. I am forever grateful, and would trust them time and time again.

I'm an attorney myself, and I know quality when I see it. When Tyler got involved in my divorce, it was a very stressful and trying time. Tyler was cool, confident, and competent and helped me navigate through the whole process. He was communicative, professional, and anticipated issues before they arose and was prepared to handle. Inasmuch as a divorce can go well, Tyler was instrumental in keeping the entire process as painless as could be. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking skilled representation in a family law matter!

Tyler did a great job dealing with an almost impossible ex-wife. He seat with my ex’s attorney to get me a fair share of my property. He also kept me grounded and realistic about my expectations.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Buda, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
