Thanks to Doug’s office I was able to get out of some serious hot water from my past. They helped the court see that I was a changed person and wasn’t the same jerk I used to be. One of the best things is their court organizations. Daniela every court date comes and visits us before the attorney arrives. Checks in with us make sure we are good and happy before the day starts. That gives a certain level of comfort and relaxation from the unknown that is court.

I had an amazing experience working with Brad and his team during my divorce case. From the very first consultation, I left with a clear understanding of what to expect and received valuable tips on how to proceed. A few weeks later, I returned to Brad with personal goals I wasn’t sure were even achievable, but he went above and beyond to secure everything I requested. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome! The process was much quicker and smoother than I had anticipated. Alisa was fantastic; she kept me updated, reassured, and on top of everything throughout the process. As well as Christina. As a young father, I highly recommend Brad and his team. They made a challenging time feel manageable, and their professionalism and results exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable and supportive legal team, look no further.

Words cannot describe how grateful I am for Mr Atkinson and his great team.I was battling for my freedom with Montgomery county and there probation department,I didn’t know where or who to turn to for help, then I was told about Doug by multiple people,So I took a chance an hired him. He took my case and was so fair to me and was very communicative and optimistic about everything to do with my situation. He went above and beyond to get it resolved,When he called me with the deal,I was so nervous and quite scared cause I didn’t know what he was going to tell me,I was expecting a different outcome based on the situation,But Doug called me an said Michael I got a decent deal for you with the prosecutors and I was expecting something else but he then said “HOW DOES BEING A FREE MAN SOUND”? I SAID WAIT DO WHAT? HIS RESPONSE WAS “MICHAEL YOU ARE FREE I GOT YOU OFF PROBATION EARLY AND YOU GET TO MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE..When I say I literally was lost for words..This is a great man and a spectacular attorney I would hire him a million times over an over..THANK YOU SO MUCH MR ATKINSON AND SHANNON FOR ALL OF YOIR HAED WORK AND THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO HAVE MY LIFE BACK IF I COULD GIVE MORE THAN 5 STARS I WOULD. 🙏🙏🙏

Wendy was recommended to me by a family member who had a son with a similar case. My son got charged with a DWI but he had no alcohol in his car nor in his system. The officer said he had been drinking but had no proof of this. The subsequent video supported this. Anyway, Wendy was on top of this case the entire way and advised my son and myself on the status of the case the entire way. We waited 8 Months for the toxicology/blood results to get back from the state and there was no alcohol found in his blood so the case was dismissed. I didn't quite know what to expect because hiring an attorney can be daunting and sometimes its difficult to know how hard they are working on your case. After 10 months in having her work my sons case, I can confidently and happily recommend Wendy Little as she represented my son strongly and having her on your side in a criminal case is a definite advantage. Highly recommended. Knowledgeable, smart and tenacious.

We hired Mr. McCormick to help with a SSI case. After two hearings with a SSI judge my son was awarded full SSI benefits plus additinal back pay thanks to Mr. McCormick. I could not have done this without his expertise. I would recommend Jack McCormick to anyone needing attorney services.

When I came to Jack McCormick I had no idea how to file for disability - what the process was or what to expect. All I knew was that I was mentally and physically no longer able to work. First and foremost, Mr. McCormick listened to me. In order to work as long as I did, I had downplayed and hid my disabilities for years. It was difficult to go from that to talking about everything, having to discuss every detail of my physical and mental impairments, and ask for help. Mr. McCormick started from the very beginning and walked me through each step. Filing for disability is terrifying. You are unable to work, finances are low, and there are all these forms to fill out. You are in a state of limbo waiting on the decision. Mr. McCormick stayed with my case. He told me exactly what was required and expected. He reviewed all my documents and discussed what was needed to complete my records. When I went to my hearing, Mr. McCormick knew that I was nervous and arrived early to wait with me. When we went to court he helped me stay calm and supported me as I shared very painful experiences.

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Conroe, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
