I have known Joe Flores for fifteen years, both as a Nurse Practitioner and an attorney. I have consulted with and hired him on several occasions. Joe is a man of integrity that will fight for you with the same diligence he would give his family.

I split up with my husband and had no income coming in. I applied for foodstamps and was working odd jobs. I reconciled with my husband a year later and got off aid. I never received a letter that the food stamp office wanted money back. 2 years later I was pulled over for a routine traffic stop and thrown in jail for days. i was terrified. Never having been in trouble I called a friend who had had similar problems on a warrant they knew nothing about. Joe Flores was on the job in one hour. We had bail and after 3 weeks of hard negotiations resolved the matter before trial. Restitution was made and I do not have a felony on my record which is what I was facing with prison time. If you need a lawyer who knows what is doing and that has a great reputation and is a powerful force on your side you need to call Joe. He will pick up the phone and text you back day or night. He has a legal staff led by Ms. Palacios who are superb and very caring. I hear so many bad things about lawyers on TV and the radio and in newspapers, but Joe Flores is not only an awesome lawyer, but he also is very very caring. I would recommend no one else in Corpus Christi. He is the best of the best. God bless he and his family always.

I was in the wrong place at the wrong time due to a friend's bad choice. We were taken in but my side of the story was not being heard. Joe took this case on and was in constant contact with my family to let them know that I was ok and keep them calm. He took the time to hear my side and assured me that I had a case to prove my innocence in this matter. I really appreciate his help and also his assistant Trish was so organized on everything I needed to be on top of for my case, she even assured my mother that everything would be ok. Im so thankful for the help he did for me, but also for my family. We are all very grateful.

I was facing what other lawyers said was 20 years. I went to Joe Flores. I found him to be very good under pressure. I came to him three days before trial. He asked a few questions and I told him I couldn't pay his fee (which was half of what the other lawyers were quoting me!). He said no problem and sized me up and asked, "Are you a man of your word?" I told him yes. He took half down and half in 30 days. No personal checks which I thought was fair. I gave him a cashier's check and signed his contract. Within 24 hours he got more done than the other 3 "superlawyers" in town. He got the case continued. Filed discovery motions and motions to suppress (and explained what they meant) and he investigated the case himself. His assistant Trisha Palacios is outstanding. He and Trish gave me their cell phones (who does that?) and kept me updated weekly. When we got to court he was respecful but firm with the prosecutor, showed the prosecutor why I did not beat my son and not being hit but spanked once . A CPS investigation was going on at the same time and through Mr. Flores help the investigation was dropped!!!My son called the cops and said he was being abused (he was 14 and angry) and had made a bad choice. I had no idea the police would believe him, come arrest me in my home and threaten me with 20 years for injury to a child. I spent 2 weeks in jail and my whole life was upside down. My son was so guilty he cried. The charges were dropped, and Mr. Flores even wrote a letter to my boss to get my job back. When I wanted to give him the rest of the monty he said, "don't worry about it, just speak well of me down the road.". That is a lawyer and true gentleman. Please call this man. He is the best lawyer in Corpus. He also is very connected. Has a television show and all the judges known, like and respect him is what I have heard. I am proud of the job he did. If I had gone with a court appointed I have no doubt in my mind I would be in prison. Trust me when I say he is the best and really cares.

Roxy was a real pleasure handling the fallout from my accident. If I had gone it alone I would have been a fish out of water. Things would not have gone nearly a smooth. Leave it to the professionals. I couldn’t recommend her more strongly.

Great to work with. They really fight for you. I sustained multiple herniated discs after a truck hit me. They got me great medical care and glad to say after 6 months my injuries have healed. They made sure my vehicle was repaired immediately and even got me a rental while my truck was being repaired. They always answer your questions, always answer the phone, overall great people working at the best law firm.

He is such an amazing attorney, very friendly and helpful. I needed help with a custody case and he answered all my questions and got me more than what I asked for. He went above and beyond to help me and make sure my kids were safe. I can't thank him enough!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Corp Christi, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
