Never in a million years would I recommend this firm to anyone who needs help. The only reason I'm still with them is because I can not legally change now. Had my accident in January and they promised 3-6 months then at 6 month mark they changed my attorney and she hyped her self up like she was going to get things done. Silly me to believe them. Now almost 10 months in they have told me twice my check is almost ready that is in accounting and they "promise" in 7-10 days I'll be paid out but I've heard that twice and every time something new comes up or slipped thru the cracks. The employees are so quick to let you know the previous person working on case was at fault but I'm starting to think they are all incompetent. And nobody from Herman and Herman better reach out and try to get me to change this review cause I'm not. Last time yall got me to change my review with promises of doing better but I'm not going to sit her and lie for yall. My name is Jessica De La Cruz not Sandra and my attorney is Asia Scott so again nothing you're saying is accurate

Terrible Law Firm. I always had to to call about my case all the time and different answers each time it took him 3 months for them to tell me pursue my case and that's because I called them to find out. On September 16 I called and it took 3 calls and 2 different person to talk to. They said a letter was mailed out on September 9, still no letter they also said there was no one at the office, that maybe they were still at lunch. The girl on the phone she would email them a message for them to call me. They didn't, so today I called and they sent my email. They got to tell me some time ago but I was always led to believe it was going good. I sent some paperwork twice and contacted my insurance so they could get information. I don't think they bothered with my case. I'm just beside myself I would do this. And every chance I get I will let them know Herman and Herman this is not who you want handling your case. I am add this to my post. This is how the lie, when I call on September 16 they said we mailed a letter on September 9 to let you why. Well that never happened still no letter and If hadn't called them there probably wouldn't be any letter cuz they never sent it 3 months for it to turn out like this terrible.

I went to Herrman & Herrman after a motorcycle accident, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. I never spoke directly with the main attorneys. When I did manage to get someone on the phone, they were often unfamiliar with the details of my case and would promise to call me back, but I rarely received any follow-up. I had to be the one constantly calling just to stay informed. When I finally got in touch with someone—who I believe might be an attorney—she couldn't answer my questions without consulting someone else. This was surprising, especially after I looked up Zoe Boulware on their website and saw a list of her supposed accomplishments as an "attorney." I also tried to reach out to their Quality Control department through an email I received from a gentleman there, but the communication was glitchy, and my attempts to leave messages went unanswered. My advice is to carefully weigh your options before choosing this firm. My experience was frustrating, and I felt like I had to do more work to stay on top of my case than the people I hired to help me.

I got a speeding ticket in early May that would have caused me financial trouble. So I called Phillip W. Goff office as he was located near Kingsville where I was in the RGV. His assistant helped me through the process and answered every question I had. The process was easy and never once did I felt ignored. Best of all I never had to leave the RGV it was all done online. Phillip W. Goff got it dismissed thank you.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Corpus Christi, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
