I appreciate Attorney Knox and his team for all the great work they did on my behalf. I was facing a very saddening experience and the coldest thing about it was that I never committed the crime. My life was upside down. I lost all hope and was very afraid of what lied ahead for me and my family and friends. His sons were very helpful to me just because they were raised to be noble citizens. His assistant Teresa was the most beautiful spirited person in this world that only GOD could send to anyone in their time of need. They allowed me to make payments and even then I didn’t have all the money sometimes & yet, they still worked my case. Amazing! I love them with everything that’s within me! Thank you. Thank you. & thank God for people like you.

Bill Knox was referred to me by several people so I gave him a call and met with him to consult about my sons cases. I hired him and he has already set a bond hearing for Monday and went to visit my son in jail. I text him several times a day and he always responds immediately. So far I am impressed and I plan on leaving or updating this review once the bond hearing and cases are settled.

I was extremely pleased with Bill's representation! He went above and beyond my expectations and got my case dismissed. He was prompt in responding to my calls and texts. He even reminded me of my court appearances via text the morning of my court date. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for an outstanding attorney who delivers results.

Well I received my charge and pronation in 2009, and by 2011 I hired Bill to represent me, on probation violations, I wish I had from the jump, as he informed me my agg assault with deadly weapon should have been dropped to a lesser charge, he got me reinstated MORE THAN ONCE, HE ALSO got me out of dallas county for 3 days for my father's funeral, this man got me A BOND EVERY TIME I WENT to jail on a PROBATION VIOLATION.. HE KNOWS THE LAW, FORWARD AND BACKWARD, and if it's something he has not heard he WILL RESEARCH IT become familiar with it and take proper action.. he tells you exactly what he can do and what he thinks is possible you will not hear him say I CANT, OR NOT POSSIBLE, HE FIGHTS FOR HIS CLIENT..he will honestly give u the best advice as your legal advisor, he is well known in Frank Crawley court house. I ended up messing up running for years and really was just OVER probation, went in told my judge I want to be done with this case, he said are u obtaining mr. Knox or your ready today, I told him I'm ready, I BELIEVE JUST ON THE STRENGTH THAT HE WAS MY ATTORNEY I RECEIVED A LITTLE BREAK... YEA HES A LITTLE COSTLY, YOU WANT THE BEST U PAY FOR IT!!! Whats your freedom WORTH, forget that WHATS YOUR LIFE WORTH... I WILL RECOMMEND HIM FOREVER, AND USE HIM UNTIL HE NO LONGER PRATICE!!!

Mr. Knox is the best attorney in Dallas. He helped me with the misdemeanor case to get it dismissed and expunged. I was a very nervous client and reached him several times to know the status of the case. He always tried to respond in timely manner and assured me that it will be done. Being a non- immigrant it was very important for me to get this off my record in order to continue my work. He guided me well to understand the importance of the program and got the case dismissed. His team helped me with all the documentation required for the program and made sure I was successfully admitted. He is one such lawyer who knows the best route to get it off your record. I will always be grateful for his help. I would definitely recommend Mr. Knox to anyone who is in trouble and do not have a clue about the legal proceedings. He is very well known and highly respected attorney in the Collin county courthouse and he can get things done pretty fast. You can trust him blindly on your case. Thank you Mr. Knox. You are just wonderful!!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Dallas, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
