I’m from California and Makayla Maxwell was assigned to my case. At first I was hesitant with reading reviews and you always go searching for the bad reviews of businesses but I am actually really happy with how much Makayla made sure she would show up for court for me, keeps up with keeping in touch through email or phone calls by her assistant, esp when I don’t live in Dallas I flew in last minute to take a deal and she did a solid job getting me in and out of the court house. Appreciate it 👌🏼

They take forever to file documents and get back to you. Been following for 2 months. Completely incompetent. Stay Away !

Do not, under any circumstances, give this firm a dime of your money unless you are guilty of the offense you are charged with, you are out on bail, and as far as you are concerned if your case never goes to trial you are just fine with it. This firm has no intention of moving forward with your case. They do not look at the evidence. They do not put the evidence together in a way that you can come to their office and look at it yourself. They assign the lawyer to you and if you think that lawyer is doing a bad job? Tough luck. No amount of calls or emails to the managing partner will make a damn bit of difference. They'll give you lip service ("oh sure, we will assign another lawyer to your case") as long as you still owe them money, but once you are paid in full that ends. You are stuck with a lawyer who is incapable of handling your case. I am a lawyer - not a criminal one - and I know what professional lawyer service looks like. This is not it. You are on your own. I had to write my own opening statement and witness examination outlines. I took deferred adjudication when I should have gone to trial and been acquitted (the DA did not have the evidence and the complaining witness had told some very meaningful lies that could be proved as lies) because I did not trust the attorney to do an adequate job. I was going to end up firing the attorney during opening statements and taking over my own defense and, since I don't know criminal procedure, that could have been a mess. The offer I did get should have come in about 9 months earlier than it did if the lawyer had just paid any attention whatsoever to my case. That's 9 months of having a mug shot on the internet affecting my career. Please benefit from my experience and go somewhere else. One star is about a dozen too many for Dunham & Jones.
