Hunter has adequate knowledge of the law, but it's his demeanor and the way he deals with clients that he needs to work on. I was apprehensive to hire a family lawyer that does not have kids as most family law is about the needs of children. My instincts were correct. He lacked the compassion and understanding of the needs of traditional families. I suspect the litigation dragged on at the kids expense in order to generate billable hours.

I hired Hunter Lewis to handle a non contested divorce with my now ex. We were fairly amicable and were 95% in agreement with both of our goals. I retained Hunter and without discussing with me he filed for full custody of our son Mark and daughter Jodi. This was not what I wanted and just made my ex mad. When I asked Mr Lewis why he did this he said it was a negotiation tactic to ask for more than I wanted. In the end a divorce that should have took 4 months to 12 and cost 3x what I think it should’ve.

Hunter came highly recommended by locals and seemed to have a good reputation. He was very difficult to work with and often was condescending and over bearing when we discussed my case or prepped for a hearing. At one point he asked me to call him “Mr. Lewis” rather than Hunter. I was a little taken back considering I am much older than him and I am the client. In court he was adequate but seemed to rely on a lot of theatrics and flamboyance rather than a strong legal acumen. He mention several times throughout our cases that his mom, who is also his employer, is a former judge. The case eventually settled but if I had to do it over again I probably would have went with a different lawyer.

Hunter was not the leading attorney in my case but he did provide assistance to me throughout the process. He was there to answer my many emails and phone calls. He displayed professionalism and expertise. Below is quick summary of my case. I live in Ga. My ex and I have a daughter. I had recently filed for child support in the state of Florida where he resides because Ga told me child support is filed where the father lives. So he received a letter from the Florida Child support department advising a case had been initiated. The next thing i knew i was being served from the state of Texas for child support from him. Apparently, the child support obligation is wayyy lower in Texas than in Florida and he was trying to get away with paying less child support. I was referred to Kinser and Bates from a lawyer in Atlanta and was told to call immediately. Before Kathy the leading attorney even took my case, she reached out to his lawyer informing him of what was going on and advised he needed to get his client to withdraw his petition. My ex stood firm so i had to retain the Kinser&Bates firm to represent me from Atlanta. Both attorneys went back and forth negotiating and my ex's attorney realized this was a losing case for him as we had found out that my ex obtained a Texas driver's license using a relative's address and he had only been a Texas resident for a few days when his petition was filed. According to Texas, you have to be living in Texas for 6 months and have a license for 90 days before you can submit a petition. The whole process took about 6 months before the case was dismissed with prejudice agreed by both attorneys and signed off on by the court. So my case did not have to go before a judge. It took so long because my ex was stalling. My ex also had to pay my attorney fees as part of the settlement. Kathy and her team were very professional, and experts at their jobs. They are the first firm I had to work with and have set the bar very high in what I should be expecting from law firms. You get what you pay for. This firm has been doing this a long time and I could tell from the consultation call that her and her firm would have my back, and me and my daughter's best interest at mind. I don't know what i would have done without them.

Hunter was just wondering in helping with my case. He is efficient, responsive, and quick to rely information. I saw many lawyers and and happy to have gone with Hunter.
