Mrs. Tuegel Showed genuine concern and PROFESSIONALISM from the moment we met her. I believe her professionalism, knowledge and immediate work on our case was the key. She was always available for to answer our questions and concerns. We could have never gotten a "no bill" w/o her diligently working to prove the innocence.

Russ, Michelle and their office staff assisted me in resolving a complicated felony DWI case. Let me just say, this was the most stressful time of my entire life; when you have a pending legal charge, you spend every day in limbo- feeling scared and uneasy about what the future may or may not hold. I am unsure if I could have made it through those months without the help of their office. As a local business owner and single parent, my life was completely chaotic, even before this added stressor. Russ and Michelle were incredibly knowledgeable, easy to talk to, reassuring and FAST; if I had any question, I could always just shoot over an email and expect a response within hours, sometimes minutes. They kept me informed and were completely honest about exactly what was happening and what I was to expect during the whole ordeal. I knew they were going to fight for my cause, and that they genuinely cared about what was going to happen to me. In the end, they were able to get me probation in a situation where I undoubtedly should have done at least some jail time. If you are skeptical about the price tag- don’t be. You get what you pay for, and your freedom is worth every penny. If you need the best, THEY ARE IT!

Michelle handled my case from the start. She clearly explained all she understood, the things we could control and the things beyond our control. There were no surprises. I was given opportunity to ask questions at any time along the way and never felt as if I was left alone to handle my situation. The staff was supportive and prompt in responding my specific requests and helpful in keeping me informed of deadlines and deliverables.

It's really simple, call Michelle now and you will understand why she is your best choice for representation. Through my business, I work with the best and largest law firms on a regular basis. I made every attempt to have my regular lawyers handle a case in Waco, Texas with no success. I called and interviewed a number of lawyers in Waco and was not impressed, my last call and attempt to find representation was to Michelle and it was refreshing to talk to an individual that was engaged in the conversation and that would actually listen. After speaking to Michelle, I requested a meeting to further interview her and see if she was the right fit for our case. After meeting with Michelle, I concluded very quickly she was by far the best choice for representation. We had a number of conference calls and after she evaluated the entire case, she went to work. She is very professional, responsive (provided weekly updates), and best of all she is a pit bull. When hiring a lawyer you want representation that will fight every day for you and Michelle did this on a daily basis. Our case was eventually dismissed as a result of Michelle's aggressiveness and hard work. In conclusion, if you need professional representation I highly encourage you to call Michelle. She will listen, she is strait forward, and will work to resolve your situation with your best interest in mind. There are not any better lawyers in Waco, so call Michelle today and see if she is the right fit for your situation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Dallas, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
