I hired Brian and his firm to do a step parent adoption. From start to finish Brian and his paralegal Pamela were awesome. They sent the discovery paperwork once I returned it they had the paperwork done within a day. He warned me that it could be a lengthy process depending on the circumstances. He was able to send me to a social worker and we were able to schedule and complete the home study within a couple of weeks. Then Covid happened and it changed how some of the process would happen. Even with Covid occurring we were able to get it completed within a couple of months. Then they even facilitated the birth certificate/name change. The entire process was completed by the end of June. I highly recommend Brian and his team

The day you have to get a lawyer for a personal issue is never a good day. So when I had to find someone to help me through a pretty rough patch, I was lucky to be pointed toward Kirsten Bode here at HBWV. She walked me through some paperwork and pointed out a couple of things that I originally missed and suggested some options that made my whole process much easier and smoother. While I hope to never be in that position again, I’ve got Kirsten’s number saved in case anything else ever comes up again. Quick to respond, kind, understanding, and extremely knowledgeable, she was a joy to work with. The whole experience with HBWV was much better than some other law firms I’ve worked with in the past.

This was my first modification from my first decree and happened after 5 years and waited so long because it's expensive, so naturally, I needed to make sure every penny was worth it. Kirsten was worth it. I was recommended to Kirsten by a lawyer and recommend her because she was real with me and my options. She listened to my whole story thoughtfully and patiently. She responds promptly. She is smart so she can make recommendations quickly. At first, her quick recommendations made me nervous. But after I asked tons of follow up questions, her recommendation was the best. She would even bring up aspects that I didn't think of, and that's exactly what I expect in a good lawyer; to tell me what I don’t know. During the mediation, she made sure to advocate for the most optimal outcome. She pushed me when I was being too conservative and pulled me when I was being unrealistic. She knows how to empathize and relate, which I needed in order for her to be on my side, instead of seeing me as just another case. I'm leaving a longer review because I depended on reviews when searching for a lawyer, even though she was recommended by a lawyer. I will be going back to her whenever I need any follow up support. Also, something I learned while searching for a family lawyer.. don't think you have to go with someone that is board certified. If you know you'll be going to court, then you should consider. But, if if you'd rather save money and finish it up with mediation, then go with someone who is smart, empathetic, and knows the law in and out, and knows your judge.

She's friendly, personable, easy to talk to, assertive, intelligent and highly skilled at what she does! If you're looking for an attorney who will fight for you and will also walk you through everything along the way, then she is the one to call. I highly recommend her!

Kirsten Bode was the second attorney I used for my case. I wish she were the first! My case was very complicated and I did not make her job easy and had high hopes. Kirsten walked me through every step of the way. She was responsive, She took action, she was firm when necessary, and she helped me to avoid a LOT of mistakes I have made in the past. I could not have ask or hoped for a better attorney. From someone who has gone through it all, and been going through it for years, I would HIGHLY recommend you use Kirsten. It will save you a lot of time, trouble, and probably money to use a good attorney from the start! She's the best! I feel truly blessed to have found Colby Berry at the precipice of my very volatile and emotionally abusive divorce. Colby was a wonderful listener, patient, informative, and thorough. He really knows what he is doing. He was also not afraid to wield a sword for me in the worst battle of my life when necessary. He was like my own personal knight when I didn’t have the strength to fight, and I don’t know what I would have done without his guidance, determination, and compassion. The outcome certainly would not been as successful without him! From the bottom of my heart, thank you, my new life would not be the same without everything you did for me and my children.

I hired the firm to fight a fine received from a city in the amount of $17k. After a couple half hour meetings and one council meeting appearance my bill came to over $4k. Then I was required to leave a retainer of $5000 which was never used or returned. My fine was never resolved as I was told that if the city was not going to pursue it that was all they could do. The firm kept my retainer with no more work being performed, and when i asked for it or to use it for more legal help, i was informed that it was no longer in an account for me and we would have to start again. I wouldn't use them again if they paid me. Unscrupulous if you ask me. $9k spent, that they were sure they could get to a decent resolution. Never happened and i still have an outstanding fine for $17000. But they did their best, it happens sometimes at least that is what i was told.

This legal service was regarding my property in Texas and I currently live in another state. While distant; I felt very included in the decision making. In addition, all communication was in a timely manner; not an easy task with "remote office work" for William. I would recommend this firm and William without hesitation.
