I'd rather pay full price for an attorney than have Donna Bloom's services pro-bono. My last consultation with her was comprised of Donna Bloom ranting and yelling at me, simply because I was disappointed about not having any of my phone calls returned after two weeks of trying. I was screamed at, told to shut up, and was called insulting names by her.

Wonderful lawyer. Donna Bloom had taken my case on a pro bono basis and treated me better than when i was paying my previous lawyer. My case was an extremely challenging and complicated case and Miss Bloom was professional and compassionate thoughout the entire process. I will never forget how she was there for me during the worst time of my life. I sincerely thank her and her team

I contacted the law firm of Springer-Lyle with regards to a traffic accident in which my husband was not at fault and was injured. In my initial call, I gave all the pertinent information. Frank Lyle then called me and was very helpful, giving suggestions and reassurance as to how to handle both the property damage issue as well as personal injury. We concluded that unless something unforeseen comes up, my husband's injuries do not appear to be serious, we should negotiate the settlement ourselves. It was refreshing to have such a helpful consultation. It was not rushed, and Attorney Lyle talked with me until I was satisfied and had all my questions answered.

I have unfortunately been in 2 wrecks that were very different from each other since moving to Texas and I have used Frank everytime. I know that frank is the experience I need to guide me in the right direction. My last case took a very long time due to the other party but Frank's team kept in contact, always was able to talk through any question or fear I had. I would recommend anyone to Frank and his team.

Attorney Brent Hill is like that one friend you have, who instead of telling you what you want to hear, tells you what you need to hear. If you are lucky, you understand exactly what I am talking about. This is a well-known quality of Mr. Hill within the Courts in which he practices, and when you walk into that Courtroom with Brent Hill by your side, your representation by him immediately carries that credibility, whether it be criminal or civil, which I can attest to, because I have had to experience both. My representation by Attorney Brent Hill hasn’t always been easy. Because of his strong demeanor and directness, I even considered seeking out other council at times; but through it all, I came to understand and appreciate how lucky I was that I hadn’t been let go by him. I’m now glad neither happened, because I currently retain the attorney I believe to be the absolute best legal representation a person can possess. Brent Hill forced me to become a better client, and in doing so he made me a better person, which ultimately led to better outcomes in both the Courtroom and in my life. Brent Hill doesn’t sugar coat things, and you won’t always like what he tells you, but if you are willing to set aside your ego and listen to what he says to you, then I can personally attest to you that you are in the hands of the absolute best legal representation attainable.

We retained Brent Hill less than a week before our hearing. I am the mother of a special needs child, and was served to go to court regarding my daughters medical needs. My ex wanted to take all medical rights away from me. My daughter had a stroke at age 3 and has miraculous medical progress in the last 4 year. Taking me out of the picture as far as her medical needs and decisions would’ve been extremely detrimental to her health. We met Brent and retained him on a Thursday and our court day was the following Tuesday. We only had time for one meeting the night before court. With limited time and limited information to work with, he derailed the petitioner’s case. We are so so grateful to Brent!!!! I highly recommend him for any family law case. He is highly capable and intelligent. He clearly had a sincere desire to fight for us and the results are evidence of this!!!!!

Dan has proven to be a thorough attorney that leaves no stone unturned. Was always available and quick to respond to texts and emails. The only thing lacking was face to face consultation in his office. Other than that, Dan was quick to respond when we had a question. I’m not aware of everything Dan did behind the scenes while dealing with the opposing attorney but in the end, the outcome was favorable considering the circumstances. I would hire Dan again and recommend his services.

My family recently enlisted the juvenile law services of Mr. Peugh for our teen. If you are currently dealing with a juvenile law situation, you know how confusing, scary, and emotional it can be. Dan Peugh has the knowledge, skill, and compassion to help your family navigate these unknowns. With Mr. Peugh representing our child, we felt confident, knowledgeable, and safe, and his expertise in the field meant that all we had to do with sit back and follow instructions. I would confidently recommend Dan Peugh to anyone and everyone!

I am so thankful I found Dan to help me with my DWI arrest. He is professional and has experience handling DWI’s. His paralegal Cara is great and always answered my calls and emails in a timely manner. I was always kept informed throughout the process so I knew what was happening. This was a super stressful time for me. DWI laws are pretty much straight forward so he could only do so much but he was able to get me the best possible outcome I could expect considering the facts in my case. I am happy he was able to get my probation term reduced slightly. I couldn’t have done it without him or Cara. I hope I never need him again but wouldn’t hesitate to retain him again if needed.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Denton, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
