Even during “normal times” the death of a parent is difficult enough. Our mother passed away during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which made dealing with her death and financial issues even worse. Since our family had previously sought the counsel of Stephanie Townsend-Allala when my father passed away and we were very satisfied with her legal services we sought her expertise again. When we talked to her about our concerns she took her time to answer all our questions and concerns. She made us feel at ease by her caring and compassionate manner. My family consulted Ms. Allala concerning our Mom's estate after her passing. The State of Texas sent us a Texas Estate Recovery Program questionnaire to determine if the State of Texas had any claim against our Mom's property. Ms. Allala was extremely patient in helping us answer the questions correctly. She answered all our questions with precise knowledge of statutory claim exemptions. Ms. Townsend-Allala assisted me in preparing my will in a most professional and careful manner. She went out of her way to explain each and every aspect of my will and how it would affect my surviving children. I find Ms. Allala to be a most compassionate and savvy person. She is down to earth and sincerely believes in assisting her clients. She is well known in the community for defending the rights of common and disadvantaged citizens against government interference with those rights. Both of our parents were needing assistance: both were diagnosed with dementia and could not handle their legal complications. Both were mandated by law to enter a long-term care facility. The professionalism of Stephanie and her entire staff was apparent from the moment we began to work together. Since my family and estate situation are complicated, preparing my will required that we spend a good deal of time discussing family relationships, and the structure of my international estate.
